Re: Something To Ponder... [hpmctorque]

would you favor reducing or repealing the current gasoline tax? Why or why not? I am not thrilled with the Federal Tax on gas. I have gotten used to it. Though I do not believe it is all used as it was purported to be used. If it is a tax to maintain the infrastructure that is fine. If it gets used for any other purpose I am against it. The issue for me is the huge state tax in some places. CA being the worst. And what are we getting for that tax? Last I checked CA tops the list of the 50 states at about 64 cents per gallon. It changes as there is sales tax of 7.75% added on top of the other taxes. I would be surprised looking at all the potholes in the roads around here, if even half goes for the intended purpose. Next to Illinois and NY I would imagine we have the most shysters in our legislature and administration. They have stolen every source of revenue to support their pet projects and social programs. They even ripped off the schools by not using the lottery money as it was intended. So for me to say I would agree that one penny more tax on anything in this state was good, is not going to happen. Where is that rope. Hang em all from the Golden Gate Bridge would be my remedy for this states government thieves.
Re: Lawyer Withdraws Cases Against Toyota [kdhspyder]

Not the stable kind of person that I'd like to hang my cases on. This is especially so that when Tracy reviewed Biller's data he found......nothing. Ooops. And you don't think Biller and Tracy were working together? Biller just sent this highly inflammatory 4 boxes to Tracy for his use? As for the $3.7 million severance package Biller received upon his departure from Toyota, a detail which may be considered by some as a sign of guilt, the manufacturer says it was only trying to "avoid the time and expense associated with his unsubstantiated allegations." If there was nothing of interest in those documents, Toyota sure raised a big fuss over nothing. You say he was unstable. So why did Toyota make him the lead counsel and keep him four years in that position. Dimitrios P. Biller, who from 2003 until his resignation in 2007 was national managing counsel in the legal services group in charge of Toyota's rollover program, sued his former employer, Toyota Motor Sales USA, which is located in Torrance, Calif.; its parent, Toyota Motor Corp.; and several in-house attorneys, including Christopher Reynolds, the general counsel of the legal services group of Toyota Motor Sales, and former general counsel Dian Ogilvie. The suit asserts violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, wrongful termination and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Biller claimed that Toyota engaged in a conspiracy to destroy and hide evidence, which he said he was "ethically and legally obligated to turn over." He also accused Toyota of committing "criminal acts" in the rollover litigation. Sounds like a cover-up to me. Of course you would not believe that is possible of Toyota. :P
