328i purchase experience.....
by spcwby on Fri Jun 12 21:04:10 PDT 2009
Bought an '08 328i sedan w/manuel, premium pkg (and heated seats), with 4.6k mileage for 28,495 from Scott Bradely of Rasmussen BMW in PDX. I am the kind of person that I usually (most always) desire more hp, but for a semi daily driver....I was impressed with the buttery smooth torque curve of the (non turbo) engine and the (gear ratio) spread of the 6sp. I have owned an 325is ('90) and a 535i ('89) and the linage of upgrades that the 328i encompasses is amazing. It is true that there is a lot of 'just as good as' but in every field there is only one leader' as the benchmark! Your mileage may vary....It has been a long time since I bought anything for myself. The vehicle, at the price, was unbeatable for price/product econometrics. Btw Scott Bradley knows his stuff (product & application, w/professionalism and respect for the client)!
Beat the Heat
by steve_ on Fri May 01 15:24:41 PDT 2009
Miami cops have it figured out: "Officers said they have seen a drastic reduction in illegal street racing since Beat the Heat started in 2007. "We used to have races in the warehouse district almost every Friday, Saturday night. They've completely stopped," Bradley said. Racers told Local 10 that they actually prefer the track. "It's better and it's safer," one racer said. The next Beat the Heat race is May 23 at 7 p.m. at the County Line Drag Way on Okeechobee Road." More like a Bradley armored personnel carrier or an M-1 Abrams tank.

Standard battle tank mileage was about 3 gallons ot the mile. Even the old M-60. I might have been able to squeeze a few more MPG out of 548 or a APC. What I was saying however that there were times when I was in heavy traffic in LA if I could have pulled 12 MPG out of a tank I might have been willing to drive one. Maybe just a Bradley if I could get them to leave the gun mount? But On long highway trips I do get 12 MPG pulling a travel trailer with my SUV. This is a fantastic country to tour and visit. The four Corner states have some very interesting history and plenty of RV parks where you can stay for $20-$30 a night. Unhook the SUV and drive to plenty of interesting sites. In May I would like to go see Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone. All things that make me glad I didn't sell my SUV. Without the trailer I can still pull down 16-17 MPG in comfort.

Well, the Landcruiser might win if the competitors were an M-1 tank and a Bradley armored vehicle.

More poppycock using faulty reasoning and ignoring the fact that Ford and GM were on their to restructuring their businesses over the last 7 years until the grossly overpaid gurus in the financial and banking sectors caused the credit crunch. You shouldn't put too much weight on that argument - particularly when you're talking about GM. Even without the credit crunch, GM would have been in deep doo-doo because its product mix was vulnerable to high fuel prices. Gas prices bottomed out in early 1999 & began rising later that year. By 2000, gas prices were already high enough to be an issue in that year's Democratic primary; facing a challenge from Bill Bradley, VP Al Gore wanted President Clinton to bring prices down by releasing oil from the strategic reserve. In short, no auto industry decision-maker should have been surprised by the disappearance of cheap gas.
