I don't buy anything at Best Buy because of the past business attitudes and practices. Bought two TVs at HH Gregg, cheaper and and the purchase process was friendlier with a salesperson over 18 unlike Best Buy. I've bought some electronics from HH Gregg as well. That said, I bought my TV at a Best Buy that had a Magnolia store. The Magnolia sales folk seem to know their stuff- and they had the set I had always wanted-and never thought I could afford-for 50% off MSRP. The Best Buy delivery guys-not Geek Squad- were first rate as well. The thing is, I'm not tied to any one store; I bought my Denon AVR and Klipsch speakers at local stores, while my speaker cables were obtained online from Blue Jeans Cable. My Hsu Research sub and Tripp Lite power center were also online purchases. The interconnects came from Best Buy, HH Gregg, and Rat Shack. OBLIGATORY AUTO COMMENT: I brought everything but the TV home in my X3, MS3, or Wrangler. The Wrangler wound up carrying the sub home, and at 82 lbs. it was not a simple task...

Evidently, it's worth $2658.. At least that's my Best Buy credit card balance.. I finally jumped in as well; my Best Buy/Magnolia was unloading their remaining Pioneer Kuro Elite 50" plasmas for 50% off list. It's one of the very few time I've bought an A/V product and not felt the slightest twinge of buyer's remorse.

No wonder why you received the extended warranty on that TV....you got raped on the price of the TV. Our Magnolia has that TV for $1899.

obyone...I didn't get anything but the Pioneer plasma from Best Buy. At the time, they had a price on it of $6,500 (I think they've dropped that to $5,000 here recently). Costco and online stores were selling it for $4,000 for the same exact thing....pretty big delta in the price. But, BB matched it and threw in the other "goodies" to boot. Unless you've got a Magnolia store within the Best Buy, you're looking at all "lower end" audio gear. Magnolia carries the better stuff....like Pioneer Elite (my personal fave), upper end Denon and Yamaha. Pretty nice speakers there, too...Martin Logan, Vienna Acoustics, Definitive Technology. If you really want to spring out the check book, go to one of those boutique AV "Salons" and get a gander at their stuff. You can spend multiple thousands just on a preprocessor. But, I didn't answer your question. There's a sizable community of on line only audio companies....AV123 (again a personal fave), Ascend Acoustics, HSU Research, OPPO, Emotiva.com, and many others. So, my set up as of right now is.... -Pioneer KURO 60" plasma -Pioneer Elite SC 05 AVR -AV123.com Rocket speakers -HSU subwoofer -OPPO upscale DVD player -PS3 Blu ray player/gaming system At regular list prices, that's worth about $15K. I got all of it for around $7K. That doesn't include labor for the home theater build out (which I did in my basement which flooded during the storm), nor setting it up. I did that myself. Also doesn't include cabling/connectors..again, I ordered the parts online and built my own cabling, connectors. It also doesn't include a surge protector/electrical line conditioner (big believer in getting a good one, since I've seen first hand what a storm can do to a system). I've yet to hear/see anything, in any showroom, or in anyone's home, better it. That's a long winded answer to a short question.
The Bentley

Hey Boom! Yes, I'm going in the dealership this week to see about ordering the '09 Continental Flying Spur. When I talked with the saleslady a couple of months ago, she said it might take six months to get what I want. I want the exterior to be Magnolia (creamy-white) and the interior to either be Magnolia or Oatmeal. One thing is for sure, no chrome wheels, I like the factory wheel finish. This dealership claims to be the largest Rolls/Bentley dealer in the country. So, I'm thinking that they will have a unit coming in that I will like without me having to order, we'll see. Mark

It can and has happened on our lot. We face the street to the busiest blvd. In VA Beach. People think it's a racetrack. I've seen some doosies of an accidents in the time that I've been working there. One Saturday summer evening a 95 Camry driven by a woman was side swiped and she lost control of the vehicle. At that time we were in our old building which had this natural pond right next to it and it was stocked with Coi. She went right into the pond right after hitting the curb. There was an old magnolia tree right in front and she's lucky she scraped it otherwise she would have hit it head on and would have been seriously injured. When we saw she was ok we went into the pond to help her out. And of course me being the joker that I am said to her: "I know you were running late for your appointment but our sevice department is now closed. Since you're here anyway why don't we look at a new Camry. Looks like yours is all wet." She was not amused.
