Trying to figure out the audio options: by felton1 on Thu Mar 10 19:30:54 PST 2005; Hey guys The more I look at the Prius, the more convinced I am that it will be my next car. I have been studying the Toyota brochure and all on-line information and I am a bit confused by the stereo information. On many Toyota models, they describe the JBL stereo at XM satellite compatible. No such mention with the Prius. The phrase "FM diversity reception" is used in conjunction with the Prius. What the heck does that mean? One last question...does anyone have their Ipod "connected" to either of these stereos? Some stereos seem to accomodate Ipod connectivity and others don't work so well. Just minor questions, but I get far better information here on-line than anywhere else:) Thanks! Felton

I may be overthinking this whole thing, as I read that the average household's energy consumption is responsible for something on the order of 6 tons of CO2 annually, so probably all of these cars are extrememly responsible choices. I can't say that I am familiar with the PZEV Accord, so I'll do a bit more researching. Thanks again! I appreciate the information and the input. Felton

Robert - popup: by vince4 on Wed Sep 04 00:24:13 PDT 2002; The 4wheel is a good choice but remember, at 690 lbs it's little more than a shell with a table and icebox. That company chooses to offer and advertise very minimal units with low weight and lower prices but then offer a long option list. You need to add the weight of all the options and your cargo. It adds up, believe me. I finally weighed mine and had quite a shock (story later!). For local camping spots here a few of my favorites within a few hours of you. -If you have a dog, the best cg by far is Mt. Madonna County Park on the summit of 152 between Gilroy and Watsonville. It's a nice place all on it's own, and they have a great trail network which allows dogs. This is rare. Cost has gone up in the last few years to $14 I think. I'm heading there in 2 weeks. -Butano State Park is a very pretty, small cg in the redwoods. It's located outside of the town of Pescadaro off Hwy 1. Only 25 or so sites so it's quiet, and only a 10 minute drive to the beach. -Henry Coe State Park above Anderson Lake is an okay place, pretty small cg but the sites are in the open for the most part. The advantage of this place is a vast area for hiking and biking. No dogs on the trails of course! -Henry Cowell SP outside of Felton is huge and gets some rowdy folks from town. Best to avoid even though it's in the redwoods. -Big Basin SP is nice but crowded and a long road to get in. Butano is better. -Sunset Beach SP is pretty good. Camp sites are just okay but it is nice to have the beach nearby. No dogs on the beach. There are many more campgrounds in the area. It depends what you are looking for: quiet, trees, open spaces, lakes, boating, dog stuff, biking, etc. What type of camping do you prefer?

Bill, thanks for the 4WD info: by dresslered on Mon Jan 17 21:28:26 PST 2000; My experience with the 3500 Ram was a quick test drive over a year ago and it was an auto. Feel kind of weird ordering something that I have never driven, but everything I hear, is great! I've always lived in the Bay area, but my last 15-years have been down in the Silicon Valley area. Tired of living in the city that I work in, my wife and I moved out to Felton (near Santa Cruz) 4-years ago. My commute is 29-miles over a narrow mountain road (highway 9) each way. I will be using the new RAM as my commute vehicle so I am very concerned about the wear I might put on the service brakes--hopefully the 6-speed will be enough otherwise I will be adding a Jake. I'm going to continue looking at the campers and will probably buy one up in Oregon as I hear there is less of a mark-up and a substantial savings in sales tax. -ddd
