2012 CR-V EX L in northern IL by riprob1 on Sat Feb 11 07:59:38 PST 2012

Just picked up my new CR-V EXL in urban titanium from Valley Honda in Aurora, IL..... here's what I paid (no trade, 3% financing): $26610 car $150 splash guards (I know I over paid, but overall they were the cheapest place around) $161 doc fee $1885 tax (7%) $194 title and reg $29000 out the door.... of the 5 or so dealerships I talked with, they were the cheapest, nice place in and out in 2.5 hours. for this area, thats pretty low. Good luck!!! :)

Should had looked at your post before I bought-- could had saved a 1000. OTD $$29731.58 for a SX which stickered at $31,795 including freight. Included $400 for tire and wheel replacement for 5 years (at the hard sell financing desk) if they got damaged by pot holes here in Colorado. Easily can happen with these 18 inch wheels and last car I bought was a 2002 Olds Aurora with 13k on it and yep broke 2 wheels going over a curb I did not see and blew a tire in a parking lot!. Still driving the Olds with 149k v-6 and I figured if I was going to keep a car another 9+ years I might as well get it loaded and that got better mileage than the Olds. OTD includes taxes and the notorious dealer prep crap. My Olds qualified for the competition rebate and got a $500 financing bonus which offset the dealer prep. Looked at Sonata and other Kia dealers and the Kia guys were really close to each other in price and Sonata dealers were not taking much off the price plus Optima has cooled seats which no other manufacterer can touch at this price new, however I did not go to all like Lexus and Acura to compare. Waiting to pay the high license plate charges which include in Colorado bridge and road fees which are another way to tax the public because we have the Tabor amendment which limits taxes but state goverment has found ways to work around it.

NASA Says no to GW by gagrice on Sun Jan 29 06:32:19 PST 2012

Forget global warming - it's Cycle 25 we need to worry about (and if NASA scientists are right the Thames will be freezing over again) Met Office releases new figures which show no warming in 15 years The supposed ‘consensus’ on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years. The figures suggest that we could even be heading for a mini ice age to rival the 70-year temperature drop that saw frost fairs held on the Thames in the 17th Century. Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997. We are now at what should be the peak of what scientists call ‘Cycle 24’ – which is why last week’s solar storm resulted in sightings of the aurora borealis further south than usual. But sunspot numbers are running at less than half those seen during cycle peaks in the 20th Century. Analysis by experts at NASA and the University of Arizona – derived from magnetic-field measurements 120,000 miles beneath the sun’s surface – suggest that Cycle 25, whose peak is due in 2022, will be a great deal weaker still. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2093264/Forget-global-warming--Cy- cle-25-need-worry-NASA-scientists-right-Thames-freezing-again.html I know this will be a tough pill for the MMGW doomsayers to handle. I want my money back from the CA CO2 mandates that have raised the price of Electricity. Maybe we can get a class action suit against Al Gore. Strip him of his millions made with his false claims.

Re: 95 Olds Aurora Overheating???!!! HELP!!! [aurand210] by juliang on Mon Jan 23 12:44:23 PST 2012

My 1997 aurora overheats and I think it is because the head gasket is blown and gases from the combustion chamber are sipping into the cooling system. The gases try to find a way out and usually they go through the cap in the reservoir, forcing with them the loss of water. It overheats because the gases start to accumulate and obstruct the proper flow of the water, making bubbles inside the system and the more it heats up, the more water it spits up the cap. A vicious circle. If I leave the cap a little loose, and only drive it on the city streets under 50 MXH, and stop once in a while in red lights, while idling and no effort, the gases are expelled faster than they are sipping in, so the car starts to cool off and even goes to normal, but the process is repeated once you start driving constantly. Freeways don't work for it any more if driving constantly without stops. It's screwed and it has to be repaired. At least I can still drive it but very limited.
