Re: More GW scare tactics [houdini1]
by gagrice on Sun Nov 22 06:58:52 PST 2009
Why are MM/GW scientists so much more likely to denigrate an opposing viewpoint or theory? But Myron Ebell, director of energy and global warming policy for the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said this and other exchanges show researchers have colluded to establish the scientific consensus that humans are causing climate change. "It is clear that some of the 'world's leading climate scientists,' as they are always described, are more dedicated to promoting the alarmist political agenda than in scientific research," said Ebell, whose group is funded in part by energy companies. "Some of the e-mails that I have read are blatant displays of personal pettiness, unethical conniving, and twisting the science to support their political position." In one e-mail, Ben Santer, a scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, offered to beat up skeptic Pat Michaels, a senior fellow at the libertarian Cato Institute, out of sympathy for Jones. Neither Jones nor Santer could be reached for comment. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/20/AR2009112004093_- pf.html My guess is MM/CC alarmist are closer neanderthal by nature. They do want US to live in a cave.

Re: NorCal LX Price

Yesterday was bad and good experience. Been talking with Berkeley Honda (used Edmund and wrote I have a clunker to trade), They gave us a price of $17500 plus tax and license. I called the saleperson (Quan) at 3:30 pm, to confirm what paperwork I need to bring for the clunker. When we got there at 4:15 pm, 1st thing out his mouth, I don't think I can give you that price if you have a clunker. Bring the manager in, long story short, new price $18950. To top it off, manager said, I should be happy I am getting $4500 for my clunker. What, that's not my fault the gov't is offering this deal, he was trying to justify the change of price? Walk off. Called Livermore Honda, they gave us the price of $17896 plus tax and license. Deal was done in 1.5 hr. I thought I will share my experience with you guys.

Can you tell me the name of the salesperson at Livermore and Dublin Honda that you worked with? I am also looking for a 2009 EX-L model and live in the east bay.
San Francisco bay area price on Accord EX-L
by laxvenkat on Mon Jul 06 00:10:38 PDT 2009
Hi guys, After much research on this forum and a lot of email haggling with dealers in the Bay Area I finally I bought an Accord EX-L on July 3rd from Livermore Honda for $22,400 +tax & registration. The experience with them was pleasant. Previously, the best quote I had got was $22,700 from a couple of dealers - Dublin Honda and Hayward Honda. However Livermore enticed me with a better offer. I thought the price was fairly decent. Now, I realize that I could have possibly got a beetr deal from Tracy Honda (20 miles east of Livermore) - Same price on car + $500 gift card from the city of Tracy. apparantly the city of Tracy are running a promotion to incentivise businesses in Tracy. Has any one bought from Tracy and got the gift card? Also, what do you guys think about the price I paid. Cheers, Lax
