Well, if we're going to discuss physics, bring it on. It's what I do for a living -- applied physics actually, otherwise known as engineering. The 5-10X statement, which I'm assuming is the one to which you're taking issue, works out like this: In the West (and other areas I'm sure, certainly in Canada), where it freezes in the winter, things appear on the roads in the spring called "frost heaves." Posted speed limits in those areas try to protect: 1) the suspensions of most cars, but more importantly, 2) the roads themselves from Class 8 trucks that hit them at high speeds. Point being, the limit can be as low as 5 mph. I don't have a problem going over them at 50 -- my car has an actual suspension. The 5X has more to do with the posted cornering speeds on the road between the whorehouse at the intersection of US 95 & Nevada 266 and Big Pine, CA (the CA state highway number becomes 168). This road rules -- I love it. It's in the middle of nowhere & has almost no traffic on it. I've taken every vehicle I've owned since 1970 (except the KW) over it, and it demands (and rewards) attention. Many of the corners are posted at 10, but it's perfectly possible to go around them at 50 and have a good time in the bargain. If you're not paying attention &/or don't know the road, you can die. If you are, you can live, big time. This road (among many others) is why I own cars -- to drive them. I'm not talking about Interstate mind-numbing appliance driving here, but that's not all bad either. I'd much rather spend the day (as I did today) driving from east of Indianapolis to LaPorte than sitting at my desk back in Phoenix.

Ran into the driver up at a local shopping center. I know from all the accessories he has on it. I asked him what year his G was and he replied a well driven 2003. He has almost 175,000 miles on it, but purchased it at the Manheim Auto Auction with 75,000 in late 2004. I asked him about all the mud and he said he wanted to prove to his wife and sister-in-law that the car could handle anything the hunting trail could throw at him, plus he had just come home from Bow hunting up near Laporte,Pa. I wish I had my camera with me. Odie Odie's Carspace

These cars (see below) match what you want. So at least the car you want is being built. You can go to the Mazda web site WWW.mazdausa.com select "build & buy" then select "search inventory". When I was looking I knew the MSRP of the car I wanted - which in your case is $18,915 - so I just select the option to sort by price - You can look up to 150 miles from your home.         This one matches - plus $30 wheel locks  2004 MAZDA3 4-Door   JM1BK323441118113   $18,945.00*      CHAMPION MAZDA LAPORTE 112 SOUTH 10TH STREET LA PORTE , TEXAS 77571 Phone: 2814712424 Local Map & Directions               MAZDA3 s 4-Door      5-Spd Manual      160-hp 2.3L DOHC 16-Valve I4-Cylinder      SUNLIGHT SILVER MET      BLACK W/RED CLOTH      ABS/SAB/SAC PACKAGE SPORT PACKAGE XENON & TPMS PACKAGE WHEEL LOCKS     This car also matches what you want.     2004 MAZDA3 4-Door   JM1BK323341136439   $18,915.00*     GARLYN SHELTON MAZDA OF BRYAN 3100 BRIARCREST DRIVE BRYAN , TEXAS 77802 Phone: 9797767600 Local Map & Directions        MAZDA3 s 4-Door   5-Spd Manual    160-hp 2.3L DOHC 16-Valve I4-Cylinder    TITANIUM GRAY    BLACK W/RED CLOTH    ABS/SAB/SAC PACKAGE SPORT PACKAGE XENON & TPMS PACKAGE

FWIW, I'm a fan of Tech TV and just found out that Leo Laporte, Tech TV's popular host of the The Screen Savers show, owns a Lexus (I don't know what model). Also, CEO of Cisco drives a Lexus and a Jag convertible. I'd like to see Lexus hire Leo to be in their ad. If so the ad definitely has to be humorous.

I live in Houston and shopped all the major dealers. I was looking for a 4x4 X-cab Silverado LT Z-71 100% loaded. - My opinion of the top Chevy dealers in Houston: LandMark Chevrolet - should be called Landshark They had additional dealer markup of $2,000 on top of MSRP. Courtesy Chevrolet - Would not even order the truck I wanted - had one coming in but wanted close to MSRP. I bought a Tahoe from them in 12/97 and got a $4,000 discount plus $2,000 more for my trade than anyone else would give me. I told the salesman I wanted the same discount - no deal..I heard the salesmanager say if we give him the price he wants we only make $1,000 bucks- tell him to get lost. Charlie Thomas- Would not accept Edmunds information as fact. I knew more about the truck than salesman and manager combined. They were sure that I could not order a locking differential with the LT package, that if I wanted leather it would be a dealer installed option and would add $1,500 to the price etc. I gave them the order code of the locker and explained that leather was standard on the LT. They do have a good service department, I use them for that. Les Marks in Laporte (I found them by using AUTOBUYTEL over the internet, I was surprised when I got a fax from them with a no hassle price of $500 over invoice which was $28,200,I had them order it that day. When truck came in they had calculated the price wrong and GM had taken a price increase- I thought shit I am screwed. The salesman told me he could sell the truck for thousands more than the price he had quoted, but he said that is not the way they do business. He had talked to the owner and they would keep the original price. It ended up $296 under invoice. I know with holdback they still made $$ but, they knew I had waited for 8 weeks for this truck, there were no other LT 4x4's in town, I had sold my truck the week before and was without a truck. They had me by the ----'s. The fact that they kept the original price still surprises me. The salesman's name is Jerry Champaine. Laporte is only about 20 miles from downtown Houston. The short drive was worth it for me..
