Re: 2006 750Li NOT a good INVESTMENT [porion] by nvbanker on Fri Feb 10 15:27:17 PST 2012

It worked. I've had 3 excellent Lexus LSes, 02, 05, 09. Not a wimper out of any of them. But, my buddy let me drive his 2011 7 Series yesterday, and WOW! Was I impressed!! The cameras, the features, the comfort, the vault like quiet, the feather like smoothness, and most of all, the DRIVE. Unbelievable! Now I get it, what the big whoop is about BMW. HOWEVER, your post has given me pause - even great pause, because I have had friends who have told me never again, a BMW. Figured they were nervous nellies, but perhaps not. Incidently, my buddy is turning his 2011 back under the Lemon Law Buyback because of electrical glitches they can't seem to fix. Guess that should be my first sign, and your message my final sign. Thanks for the info. My Lexus drives like warm wallpaper paste, but it does it every day without complaint. And I like that.

Re: Only problem with Acura is lack of focus/marketing [markcincinnati] by dbledmndk2 on Thu Feb 09 16:01:22 PST 2012

Mark - first just wanted to say thanks for your well written and insightful posts on here. I'm currently looking to dump my V6 2005 Accord Coupe and I'm torn between the A4 and the TL AWD. I agree that unquestionably the TL is a better value, but there is just something so silky smooth and seductive about the A4. Could you (or any 2012 TL owner) comment specifically on the technology in the TL AWD Tech? My salesman was terrible on the test drive and couldn't work the hands free link and made the nav seem like it was impossible to use. The Audi Tech was great, but with the a la carte pricing it was getting a little ridiculous. Thanks!!

Re: 2012 Ford Explorer - My Ford Touch issues [ri_ford_owner] by nvbanker on Thu Feb 09 10:22:03 PST 2012

I now have 7000 miles on mine. The MFT locks up all the time. Given a minute or two, it usually clears up. If severe, I do disconnect the battery and reboot it, but usually it will do that on its own shortly. My beef with it is the continual lockup it seems to do. WHEN it works, it's awesome in every way. They keep saying a software upgrade is coming to fix it. Until then, I'm quite annoyed by it. Shame too, because the rest of the car is wonderful. I love it.

Re: Explorer 2006 Automatic Transmission Fluid [ford343783] by nvbanker on Thu Feb 09 09:30:36 PST 2012

These transmissions are "sealed for life" and a transmission service is not "required" on them. They expect "life" to be 100,000 miles. But I would have it serviced anyway. It won't hurt, and may extend the life considerably.

Re: 2005 Ford Explorer V6 Engine problems [f110mech] by nvbanker on Thu Feb 09 09:23:07 PST 2012

First of all, your neighbor mechanic is an idiot. This engine has a CHAIN, not a timing belt, and it's not broken. If he doesn't even know that, RUN!! Sounds like your starter drive, or flywheel has a few missing teeth and the starter isn't engaging to turn the engine. Find another (good) mechanic, you'll be able to fix it for way less than that.
