2009 Mazda 3 iTouring Value Auto
by zoomxoom3 on Sat Sep 27 08:14:51 PDT 2008
Last month we test drove seven models in this class of car. Settling on the 3, I requested internet quotes from seven So. CA dealerships using Edmunds and Yahoo Autos. I was asking for '08s, but the best price came back on an '09 from Browning Mazda in Cerritos (no 08s left). I didn't have a trade, so I was negotiating on color & price. Before going to the dealership I asked for the VIN and an itemized out the door quote. I've found that an itemized OTD is important so you can be sure that they don't try to add advertising and other fees to get the price back up. For example, the rep at Alhambra came back with a lower base quote on an '08 but his OTD price was $700 higher. He was also very resistant to giving me a written itemized quote and got a little emotional when I told him thanks but no thanks. Anyway, we arrived at the the dealership for an inspection and test drive at 6:10 and were out of F&I with our new 3 by 8:00. The guys at Browning were top notch. Best auto buying experience ever. I may have to upgrade our second car to the new 6. Date Purchased: September 23, 2008 Sticker: $18,515.00 Internet Quote: $16,699 +DMV,tax (8.25%) and doc fees. OTD price paid: $18,369.00 No trade, but I put 4K down - financed $14369 w/ Cap One at 5.6%
My Lease Deal

I thought this lease deal was pretty good (New Century, Alhambra, CA) 328i Navi Steptronic Premium Pkg MSRP: 40300 Invoice: 37690 Selling price: 36690 (-3610 off MSRP, -1000 off invoice) 15K @ 36 mos (56% residual) MF = 0.00091 (w/ 4000 sec deposit) Monthly payment inc. tax = 483 Drive off = 5731 includes: License fee: 303 Bank fee: 898 First month Security deposit = 4000 Lease would've been 0 security deposit with 524/mo, and total lease payments would've been 20K and some change With 4000 security deposit and 483/mo, total lease payments ~18600. --experience-- Salesperson saved me $1400 because I didn't know about MSDs. First dealership I went to didn't even bother telling me about MSDs Also, salesperson had his lease calc on his computer in front of me the whole time, and did a 'print screen' when we were done. Took the time to go over lease calculations until I figured out how to do it right. All this, and didn't ask any questions initially but went below invoice without having to haggle to get there.
Re: Good deal on a 335 lease? [i_am_i_said]

i have probably been to these same dealers :) ... or is it :(.....? anyway, you should be able to get invoice minus at least half the price of the automatic trans credit (i believe that is $1325). really you should be able to get all of that amount off of invoice. plus you should be getting a MF of .00165. that's the best i've gotten (from my guy at new century in alhambra) in the last few days. if they're not showing you the deal sheet, then go somewhere else (like new century) where they will. otherwise, i guarantee they are messing with you.

I am looking in purchasing a EXL Coupe V6. Do you guys think I could get it OTD for $28,000? I know that the 09 coming out next month. I just gave back from Goudy in Alhambra and the best they could do was 30,500 OTD. Thanks
