Just drove home with a Gray 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS automatic with the PEP package, floor mats, Ipod cable, and wheel locks. Price was a no haggle $16,999 at Simmons-Rockwell in Big Flats NY (near Elmira). Took delivery right off the truck. Nice folks to deal with - my salesman was Cole. They post their inventory and the "You Pay" price on their website.
Any interesting sales stories from Canada? ">
Slightly related. I went with a friend on a trip to Elmira Ontario yesterday in his fairly new to him Accura TR (the larger one). He always buys an upper grade used car. His last few cars were a Lincoln and a Chrysler LeBaron and his prvious car was about a 1999 Olds 88 with everything on it. He liked all his cars, especially the Olds, but the Accura is by far his number one choice....the handling, solid ride, reliability make it far superior to his previous cars. He was going to a factory that makes 1950s style kitchen appliances, and though I am not sure who buys them, they were really interesting to see....

Congrats Mike on the house! Is that one of the new way points during the 48hrs? ;) Juice - sorry to hear about Hadji - I know what it's like to watch a pet who is a member of the family (for us they are our kids) who is slowly getting declining. All the best for him, and you and the family. On the topic of the Forester, all I can say is nice mileage! I wish the OB got that high :( . As for the chipmunks, maybe it's time to scream "Alvin!" to get rid of them? My wife and I just spent the long weekend traveling around upstate NY. Wound up putting on about 1100 miles (finally broke 30K after almost 3 years) while going around to Cooperstown (stayed at the B&B that has put us up during the 48hrs Charity Drive), Corning/Elmira NY (never knew so much aeronautical history was in the area -defintiely have to go back), Syracuse area, then back home. I was happy to average 23.28 mpg during the trip and except for burning trough a little over a quart of oil and haing the tpms light constantly coming on it was a great drive. The bad part of the long weekend was putting on a few pounds ( the innkeeper in Cooperstown bakes like crazy and everything is GREAT!!!) so the diet is going so-so. The good thing is a friend agreed to do a bicycle ride with me coming up in 2 weeks so at least I won't be riding alone. Mark
Hmm. automotive brain surgery. Elmira, with todays electronic components that is probably one of the easiest jobs to do. All it takes is unplugging the wire harness and re plugging on the new unit. Mack
You're in Hawaii and I'm sure there are parts that they just don't expect to go, so they don't stock them until the model is a few years old. This doesn't make any sense mikeam. The dealership makes elmira wait a day to pick up her new car, but they can't make used car owner wait a day to get a part? It's not like the used car owner would be driving across state lines or anything. Where's he going that he can't get a loaner for a day? I'd tell the dealership to unwind the deal... or offer just compensation for my lost time and their lack of consideration. Anything more complicated than a lugnut removal and I would walk.
