I would definitely look into other manufacturers. We bought a 2011 CX9 grand touring, loaded. Have had it for 3 months and live in Yuma, AZ where temps are routinely 110+. Pull up to a stop light and sit for more than 30 seconds and 95+ degree air starts pouring out. Never had a problem with other cars even in this heat. Mazda has acknowledged an "engineering" problem with the fan controls (Computerized), however they have still not come up with a fix. Brand new car $30k+ and it's a POS (Piece of>>>). We've contacted a Lemon Law attorney and it sounds like a lot more future "non-Mazda" buyers out there. Just thought I'd share our story to help you make an informed decision. I learned my lesson...stick to Honda products.

CARB & Cruze diesel / Yuma roadtrip stop by elias on Mon Jun 13 20:42:22 PDT 2011

Thanks for the good news, i97 . It's good to know of GMs good intentions, but my skeptical stink has plenty of aroma left. I hope they don't build too many before the car gets CARB approval. Many a carmaker has cancelled plans after they watch CARB move the goal-line. ( Will it use AdBlue or probably is the engine small enough to use a SCR system like Jetta TDI? ) speaking of test mules, in 1991 happened to stop at Yuma arizona I40 exit to change drivers - my codriver couldn't really drive the Z28 stick - stalled it at the Yuma exit blocking a car-carrier plus more test mules on it all instrumented up. No vehicles for 50 miles and literally tumbleweeds blowing through, and we had stalled/blocked Ford's testing big-rig and bunch of other Ford vehicles on the one exit ramp. The Ford engineers were absolutely as they rolled passed us as we swapped drivers, and the instrumented cars drove off the truck and into their Yuma proving grounds.

Jobs, Schmobs. Anytime any industry tails off, the people get other work. Americans adapt. Solar and Wind are not unreliable at all, when placed in the correct locations. Albuquerque (and other places) get 300+ days of sun per year....how "unreliable" would solar be in those towns? NOT VERY UNRELIABLE AT ALL. 10 sunniest cities Annual percent of possible sunshine 1. Yuma, Arizona 90% 2. Las Vegas, Nevada 85% 3. Phoenix, Arizona 85% 4. Tucson, Arizona 85% 5. El Paso, Texas 83% 6. Flagstaff, Arizona 79% 7. Fresno, California 79% 8. Reno, Nevada 79% 9. Sacramento, California 78% 10. Albuquerque, N.M. 76% Lots of cities and locales (I posted a chart last week) get daily wind averaging more than 12 MPH - how "unreliable" is wind in those areas? NOT VERY UNRELIABLE AT ALL. 10 windiest cities Avg annual wind speed in mph 1. Blue Hill Observatory, Massachusetts 15.4 2. Dodge City, Kansas 14.0 3. Amarillo, Texas 13.5 4. Rochester, Minnesota 13.1 5. Casper, Wyoming 12.9 6. Cheyenne, Wyoming 12.9 7. Great Falls, Montana 12.7 8. Goodland, Kansas 12.6 9. Boston, Massachusetts 12.5 10. Lubbock, Texas 12.4 Gary says, "So we get the negative benefits in the global air quality and lose the good benefits of cheaper power. So how smart is that? " I only understand HALF of that......How is getting "negative benefits" a smart thing?

San Diego dealer prices by azkid2 on Sun Oct 31 08:52:03 PDT 2010

Drove through a wind/sand storm on I-8 west of Yuma on the way to SD, so went to the closest dealer to replace my air filter. While there I priced the 2011 Tourings and they want MSRP with no add on fees other than TTL. They would go $1,500.00 under invoice in the 2010 Touring, or in lieu you could get 1.9% or 2.9% financing. They even had a brochure for the 2011, which my home dealer couldn't seem to find.
