Re: 2003 Infiniti FX45: exhaust fumes in cabin [aryzhov]
by JBaumgart on Thu Nov 12 19:33:11 PST 2009
aryzhov, I also have an '03 FX45, with about 95,000 miles. Overall it's been the most reliable vehicle that I've ever owned. However, about 6 months ago, the exhaust did get noticeably louder, and after the dealer diagnosed it, I did have it replaced. I live in Minnesota where they use lots of salt in the winter, so I wasn't surprised that the original muffler developed some rust. But I never did not have the unpleasant smell that you describe, so I don't have any advice to give you on that from my experiences. In my case the dealer went to Infiniti without any prodding by me, and Infiniti ended up absorbing more than half the cost of the new exhaust. After that the car sounded just like new. On the oil consumption issue I do have to add oil periodically between changes. I haven't measured the rate that the engine burns oil, but I haven't noticed that it's gotten any worse since new. I would guess roughly a half-quart every 2000 miles. I've always used Mobil 1 5W-30, changed about every 5000 miles, so your mileage may vary. Overall I've been very pleased with the vehicle, and the service from my dealer (Lupient Infiniti in Golden Valley, MN) has been top-notch.
Not that I'll change any minds here,

Because from what I can tell, opinions are pretty well set in concrete--in my opinion, most people (me included) had never heard of, nor had feelings one way or the other about Hyundai before the MY 2006 Sonata came out. I drove and then bought one--a few weeks later my brother bought one and just a few months ago, he bought a Genesis--BECAUSE of the Hyundai name, not in spite of it....we've both had excellent service from our total of three Hyundais (and from the dealership in Golden Valley, MN.)
2010 Prius II in Minneapolis
by beyondo on Thu Jul 23 08:02:45 PDT 2009
Just bought a 2010 Prius Package II the day I called from Luther Toyota (Golden Valley). The car cost me (incl destination): $22,650. Tax, title and doc fee was extra. I got 4.19% financing for 48 months with some haggling. They offered no discounts other than $300 for every car that day, and nothing for cash vs financing. But, it was a good experience and I was amazed they had a car in stock for immediate delivery. Almost everyone else said it was 2-4 weeks wait.
Re: Volkswagen Rabbit: Prices Paid and Buying Experiences [micro_chip_man]
by backy on Sat Apr 11 11:28:52 PDT 2009
I second your comments. I just bought a 2007 Rabbit 6AT 2-door, dark blue, 34k miles with VW warranty (factory + VW Certified) until April 16, 2013 or 74k miles. I paid $11,050 + T&L (MN, 6.5% tax), or $12,090.50 OTD. (My deal included a $200 coupon from the dealership chain.) The dealer's "special Internet price" on the car was $11,995 + T&L. Like you, the Rabbit is for one of my kids--my daughter, who is our youngest. So the fact that the Rabbit has excellent safety features plus is a practical car was important. But before she gets it in about 4 years for school, I get to enjoy it. :) The car has one small light scratch on the driver's door (which I will take care of with a paint crayon, or use one of the five "touch up" coupons I got from the dealership in their owner benefits package), otherwise I can not tell it from new. Even the mats and tires are new. CarFax was clean. Purchased from Luther Westside Volkswagen in Golden Valley, MN. Had a very good buying experience. Negotiations were straightforward, and although the finance guy was persistent in trying to sell me an extended warranty, he was professional about it. I am not allowed to mention the sales rep's name, but everyone I worked with was professional and easy to do business with. This is my 2nd car from that dealership in the past 3-1/2 months. I bought a 2005 Jetta (also VW Certified) from them on Dec. 31, from a different sales rep (he was out this week). That car was totaled last Monday by a guy running a red light, hence my need to replace it. I am very happy (after two whole hours of ownership!) with the car and my buying experience. I think VW Certified cars are a great option to get a good car with a manufacturer-backed warranty at a good price.
Article Comments - 2010 Lexus RX 350 First Drive

We're lost in the 2010 Lexus RX 350. Napa Valley is a nice place to lose your bearings, but as the late afternoon sunlight turns the harvested Cabernet vines golden brown, we know we'd better find a road back to St. Helena. 2010 Lexus RX 350 First Drive

What is the first WORD of the sentence? You might be incredulous, but you might not know about what you speak. Indeed if I went to get a permit where I live (golden triangle, Silicon Valley, CA) and if I did NOT hype (up aka lie) "ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SOLAR PANELS" and enlist the help of the CA state blue team, my permit would ROT in some unfriendly land fill. Trust me, friends who own plants that prototype and/or do custom board applications,(nexus, that control solar panels?) practically have ALL the regulatory agencies living in their plants. The cost of compliance is literally astronomical.
