GM really needs to get back to basics. Good luck with that. The KISS concept is lost on most manufacturers these days. Some are still reliable, but they're not well thought of.

There's nothing like helping out a bunch of Medicaid patients. I think similar things (on a much smaller scale, of course) as I stand in line in convenience stores behind people collecting on or buying lottery tickets. They're paying 50 cents on the dollar to play the stupid game, all of which goes to the state. I guess I should be more patient with those who are paying my taxes for me. . .but I'm not. Blackjack played carefully (that would involve counting) gets a few percent in your favour, craps with double odds only costs 0.7%, but the state lottery is 50% against. Go figure. Well, of course, none of them does.

may claim that a quart of oil consumption in 2000 miles in street service is normal, most don't. I am in possession of three cars with engines that don't use more than a pint of oil in 5K miles, two of which have over 100K miles on them, and the third of which is a Honda (Acura, actually). Something is seriously wrong with the design of this engine. The rest of the car appears to be wonderful, but this engine thing is killing it. The real cherry on the sundae is that the oil consumption increases exponentially before "the event," after which the engine is toast. Checking your oil weekly, even in between gas fills, won't help if it's your time. Even if it used <1 qt in 2K miles, in the next 200 it may use 3, after which. . .
