in 2009 my inlaws bought us a 2001 ford escape with 82,000 miles on it, from finish line ford in peoria IL. the very next day it started having rough idle problems to the point that it would some times die at a stop, the idle problem would only last for the first few minutes of driving. this problem was 20 times worse in the winter, so i looked into it i changed the idle air control valve, egr valve, mass airflow sensor, spark plugs, fuel filter, and nothing so we dealt with it well around 2010 it started getting worse and we could hear this faint hissing noise from inside the car around the brake pedal. the noise got worse and the idle problem got so bad that we would have to put the car in nuetral when stopped and push the gas. it got so bad that as soon as you took your foot off the gas the car would die and the noise was pretty loud also. when the noise came around the idle problem never went away even after driving for hours. so i changed the brake booster fixed the problem back to how it was when we got it. then we started getting a high pitched noise from the hood of the car around the serpintine belt that was very loud and nasty sounding, that was the ac pump clutch went out and the clutch was rubbing up against one of the bolts on the ac pump as soon as we stopped it welded it self together, car would not start the next day so i replaced ac pump and the belt. two months later me my pregnant wife and my son were coming out to the car late at night from shopping and the key would not go into the ignition, it worked on the door but not the ignition had to drill out the tumbler and put a new one in, in the parking lot, 4 months later i was driving the car and the first time i pushed on the brakes the hole car started to shake and a horrible grinding noise was coming from the brakes, that turned out to be the abs sensor ring which was a nightmare to change. during that time we have changed both blinker lights in the front and the plate lights, i have done a oil change every 3,000 miles and a fuel cleaner. during this time also all door apolstry has slowly fallen off. me and my wife HATE this car but dont have the money to buy a new one, it has been a nightmare from the begining it was put together to fast and to many corners were cut building this car. i will NEVER buy another ford again, the only good thing i can say about this car is that it is pretty easy to work on. my wife and i are waiting every day for it to explode on us. oooo yeah it also has a oil pan leak. :(
Start up the 800 number and replace them all, in 24 hours or less... You know Caterpillar did this some years back during a different recession. They got so many calls that it literally overloaded Ma Bell's circuits! The UAW workers were actually smart enough to wake up and went back to work thereafter. Cat hasn't had as many labor issues with the UAW since that episode and their decision to literally cancel a partially built plant outside of Peoria after the UAW got unrealistic. Ford needs to take a lesson. The velvet glove doesn't work near as well on these UAW types as a big club. Sometimes I think some of these UAW workers are rather child like in their comprehension and behavior patterns. These UAW guys at Ford look like imbeciles. Let's see, GM workers agree to a contract, Ford offers a significantly better term contract and they want to vote it down in a big recession with the distinct possibility of a double dip in the near future? No sympathy if they all lose their jobs. I'm just not sure Ford has the guts and fortitude to do what they need to do. They've been too parental in their dealings with these clowns over the years. Sometimes you've got to discipline children to teach them lessons.
I have had the same intermittent starting problem for some time and the dealership could never duplicate it. I eventually contacted the service manager and he promised to find the problem. I finally have an answer!! My Hyundai dealership in Peoria, Az really tries to give top notch customer service. If I understand correctly; under the steering wheel cover is an antenna that relates to the key and therein lies the problem. The part is on order and should be here in about a week. I love my Azera and that was the only complaint I have had. This would be a customer appreciation repair and not cost any $$$ from my end. I also needed to have a bearing on my rear shade screen replaced several months ago (I do use it allot) and although out of warranty; the dealership split the cost with me so the cost was minimal. I hope this will help others who might have the same concern.
Well.. the cheap lease on the Z4 has been going on since May.. there aren't hardly any left.. Not one that met my qualifications within two hundred miles of home.. I actually had a deal on brand-new one in Atlanta (a very generous offer and good salesperson), and a line on one in Peoria (another good salesperson, but not as generous)... and, stumbled on to this demo in Maryland... I had to lead them to the deal, and point out some quirks of the program, but after two days of e-mails, we were on the same page... one more day to work out the final details.. Not too bad.. never left my chair. You know.... .I could have obtained a really good lease on a VW CC, an Acura TSX or a Nissan Maxima.... and, all would have been more than what I'm paying for the Z4.. :)
What a deal!!! $3,300 in lease incentives, $1,500 lease/cash incentive from my GM Master Card and the dealer knocked $2,000 off of the price of the car. Dealer add-ons included nitrogen in the tires, sealant finishes on both the inside and outside of the car and see through door edge guards. They paid off my 2009 Buick Lucerne (about $20,000) and rolled all costs into the lease including license, and dealer fees. I'm paying $374 monthly for 39 months and the only cash I had to come up with was the first month's payment. I would highly recommend Liberty Buick in Peoria, AZ. to anyone who lives in the Phoenix area. No dickering. They give you their best deal up front. I worked the whole deal over the internet. The only question was the trade-in allowance and they gave me a generous deal. I will be happy to furnish the internet salesman I dealt with if anyone is interested.
