Re: Only the VP gets Bridgestone and others get Goodyear? [carabel]

I like the Bridgestone's but they don't offer the same "roadside hazard" insurance as Goodyear. For like $11 a tire you can cover it from all sorts of dangers the regular warranty doesn't cover. They also give you free tire rotations whenever you want. I enjoy doing my own work, but getting this big beefy boy up on a jack to rotate the tires myself seems a little daunting. I might ask the dealer why the difference on my tires. They are both not ranked very highly on tirerack.com or consumerreports.org. As long as they last a few years before I can get some Yoko's or Michelin's on them, they've served their purpose. Thanks for the response. Cheers!
2006 Honda Pilot Tire Issues

HELP..... I'm on my 3rd set of new tires in the past 30 days and can not eliminate the vibration experienced at speeds of 65-80MPH. The tires feel like they have a "waddle" or are slightly out of balance. I've tried two sets of Firestones(present set is Destination LE) and the General Grabber HTS. The present set was installed by TireRack and supposedly RoadForce Variation balanced. Vehicle only has 55,000 miles and I NEVER had an issue at all with the original GoodYear Integritys. I see that others have had this issue too but haven't seen any firm resolutions.

My VP has Goodyear Integrity. I wish Honda will use better tires for their future models. My former Sienna lease had Michelins on them. I think good tires are good selling points in competitive SUV segments especially if you are also banking on great safety records. Why not give the truck its all and point it out to consumers.

If I had a TPMS, I would have known something was wrong while I was running errands last week and I could have gotten it checked while I was out. TPMS isn't always all it's cracked up to be. In my Matrix earlier this year, I was driving down the freeway when I heard a loud bang from the right rear tire. I was only about 3 miles from getting off anyway, and since the TPMS light didn't turn on, I figured I would just head to my destination. I pulled off the freeway and into the parking lot of the store I was headed to, and just as an afterthought I went around to glance at the tire. You can imagine my surprise when I found it completely flat. Had to change it on the spot, the tire was toast and I spent close to $150 to buy one of those crappy Goodyears Toyota seems to put on half of everything they sell, so that it would match the tire on the other side, which only had about 15K miles at the time. The TPMS light never lit at any time. Another worthless system I paid extra for. Glad that car is gone.

Our Town Car came with Goodyear 225 X 15's & they lasted 60,000. I replaced them with Michelin X and they lasted 90,000 and 12 years. I just replaced them with Michelin Symmetrys and they ride the best. Our T Bird has had Hydro Edge tires for over two years and no complaints. If you have 225's you probably have dual exhaust and the "touring" suspension. Some Ford products call it the "handling package". If your Merc rides stiff and you feel the cracks in the pavement, I'd recommend the Symmetry Michelin. You could even drop down to the 215 X 70X 15 & have a White wall if you wanted to do that.
Re: new 2009 mazda3 needs 2 new front tires ALREADY!? [fancy1]

If your car came with Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires, then yes, those suckers wear out quickly. Over on a different board I heard so many claims of premature wear with these tires before I bought my 2009 Mazda3 that I opted ti order a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires the day I bought my car and had the RS-As yanked after only 714 miles. FWIW, those tires now have almost 22,000 miles on them and aren't even half gone yet. :) Best regards, Shipo
