Re: klunk noise on abs brakes [eperez1] by 022540 on Mon Nov 10 13:43:29 PST 2008

I dont know where you live, but I would get a 2nd opinion quick. Our CX-7 GTFWD has fantastic breaks, they are excellent and functional. When you first start out on a cold morning, you might hear some noise because of debrie on the breaks, they are completely exposed to the elements. Even if I had to drive to another town, I would get a second break person to look at them. You might even try a local tire center, You have either Bridgelstone or Goodyear and have them check by pulling the tires and looking at the break set up. Strange noises are not good and should not go unchecked. Good Luck on a better outcome :) :)

Re: 2011 Convertible w 17" RFTs [steveaccord] by badswing on Tue Feb 14 17:57:33 PST 2012

the technology has nothing to do with safety. an act was passed to make cars as light as possible combined with the ridiculously high cafe standards and perrelli and goodyear (i think) developed this tire saving weight on a spare. bmw wont let it go and are into it big time. they also have now put a 4 cyl in a 5 series and new 3 series will be 4 cyl. ideology over performance. ask any dealership (at least on the east coast) and they will tell they have stacks of complaints. supposedly only a problem here. but 101 is having a spare. period.

Re: ADDENDUM TO #114 - snow [leand2] by mayda1 on Mon Feb 13 06:06:34 PST 2012

I'm running Goodyear assurance triple treads for 3 seasons here in Vt. and Hakkapelitta(Nokians) in winter. both are great(but expensive) tires, but both give me similar performance problems like those mentioned. mine almost feel like my front right is out of alignment, but i thought it was the tire and keep having the dealer rebalance etc every season. but could this be a problem with the outlander itself? Hmmm.... other than that i have 70k trouble free miles on my '09 SE. love my Mitsu!

Re: Tires running rough when colder outside [pao] by odie6l on Fri Feb 10 06:37:44 PST 2012

I'm not concerned with the rainn and snow performance as I am with how they will handle Pennsylvania Road Conditions. You know the type of road where PennDOT only puts up a sign "Bump" when a sink hole is starting and it dips enough to make you car hop like a bunny, or pot holes big enough to swallow a VW Bug. I will do the same thing I did with the OEM Goodyears I had on both my Escape and Pilot and will stop at the Tire shop that sells the tires and have the Road Hazzard Warrenty pro-rated and added to the tires. Saved me a bunch on the OEM tires on the Pilot when they wore out after 20k and got full replacement for free with Wrangler Silent Armors. Odie

Re: Trying 'em on for size... [maxx4me] by toyotafan6 on Thu Feb 09 16:32:19 PST 2012

Yes, I believe the Bluetooth capability comes standard with the LE - it comes with alot of stuff I probably won't use - I do like the fact that I can change radio stations or adjust the volume from the steering wheel... The door is certainly "longer" on the 2-door (3 DR liftback), I have to be extra careful when opening it when parked next to another car - I rarely have passengers in the back and the 3 DR was a little less $ than the 5 DR so I opted for it - Unfortunately, I did a really dumb thing a couple of days after I picked up the car - I hope you car guys can tell me that what I did hasn't damaged the engine - The shifter for the automatic is not straight up and down like what I'm used to, it's a little of a zig-zag - to the left of "D" for drive it has "3" for third gear, when driving home one night I noticed on the display it had the "3" but when I looked down at the lever it appeared to be in the correct position for Drive - so like an idiot I drove 24 miles home in 3rd gear! I remember thinking:"why does it have a 3 when I'm in drive?" After I realized what I had done I looked in the owners manual (in the section for driving tips for a new car) and it said not to drive "continously" in low gear and not to exceed 53 mph - I don't think I went faster than that - I didn't sleep much that night worrying that I damaged the transmission, the car only had about 150 miles on it when this happened - I asked a few people at work the next day if they thought it hurt anything and they all said "no" - one would think at my age I would know when I'm in 3rd gear but for some reason it didn't sink in at the time...I haven't noticed any weird sounds or anything and no indicator lights have come on so hopefully it's OK - The day I went to pick it up I wanted to drive it around some because I had not driven this particular car (the dealer had to bring the car in from another dealership because he didn't have this color) and after I started driving it I noticed the parking brake was on! Luckily I hadn't gone very far or fast - then while driving to work a couple of days later there had been a wreck up ahead that had just been cleared away and I drove over some broken glass in the road (I couldn't go around it or I would have) so I was worried I'd get a flat tire but that didn't happen, by the way the tires are Goodyear Assurance (pretty good tires). Anway, so far I am very happy with the Yaris - I think you get alot of bang for the buck and I'd recommend it - I've only had it 12 days so far - my last car I had for 11 years and the car before that I had for 15 years - so it's probably somewhat premature for a recommendation -
