Thanks for the detailed information. your reply is very informative and I will cancel my policy today and ask the dealer for Honda care. Thanks again.

Third party coverages are a bad bet. You will run into serious issues when you have a claim. They are more profitable for the dealerships. I suggest skip it and buy the Original Honda Care warranty. It includes Towing and roadside assistance as well. Consider it a warranty and a AAA membership combined.
Re: VW [m6user]

If VW could solve their quality problems and really turn their perception around they could be a juggernaut to contend with. A lot of people like their styling, performance, handling, interior quality but hang back due to not wanting to experience the horror stories that many have with their vehicles. This. I'm car shopping now and was/is very interested in a VW Jetta. But I'm still skittish about reliability and potential cost once it is out of warranty. And the TDI is very appealing but there have also been plenty of stories about VW dealers not servicing them right (overfilling oil or not using the right oil) during the carefree maintenance period. On the other hand I really liked the handling and interior quality. A lot. As it is I'm probably going to end up choosing between a Ford Fusion or a Mazda 3 hatchback.
Re: My "critical" review... [samnoe]

WOW - that's critical! I am sorry, but if you prefer to have othe features that Honda does or doesn't offer you should have bought another brand and make. Honda conducts quite a few "public" clinics (I was on few of them) and public reports back items and features that they prefer and then they are (or are not) incorporated in their designs. Like the 30-sec automatic lock - I happen to like that feature and obviously majority of respondents as well. My wife has 2009 Civic EXL and I have 2009 VW Jetta Wagon Tdi. While VW is more "fun to drive and has a better mileage" Honda offers carefree commute from point A to point B. We are happy with both. There is no answer to a question: what is the best car? Everyone looks for something in particular and no car manufacturer can satisfy everybody's taste. It is always a compromise. Back to you report though. You can increase the headlight brightness by changing the headlamp bulbs and put ultra btright PIAA bulbs there (same wattage but brighter!). You can eliminate "road" noise by replacing tires that are rated more quiet than yours (see TireRack website). You can replace wiper blades with Valeo brand - they clean most of the windshield. Locking fuel caps are handy in certain markets in the U.S. - yes, the gas is still being siphoned out. Outside temp sensor is on our model - all you have to do is click set-reset button to have it displayed. Finally, most Hondas sold in the U.S. are designed and assembled in North America - so any referral to "Japanese" isn't really proper.
Re: Another buying story..... [graphicguy]

Excellent story GG, or should I say novella. I think you handled it really well, but I think it would have been worthwhile just to see how much the lease would be on a new Sonata. It might not be much more than the trade in, and it would mean a new warranty and carefree driving for the life of the next lease. With current prices and incentives she might get into a new car and pay about the same. The other thing to consider is to buy, because of the problems we covered here awhile ago....especially about getting out of a lease if you want to.
2008 Passat maintenance question
by vwenthu on Thu Aug 20 14:30:27 PDT 2009
According to the user manual, the 08 model need service every 10K miles. I take my car for service to the dealer and my dealer suggests service every 5K miles and sets the trip computer to 5K service interval. Is everyone else (2006-current VW owners) doing service at every 5K miles? It sucks because the carefree maintenance is not available on the 08 models and its not fun servicing every 5K miles....please advise.
