Well, after 12 years I have never once asked a customer to pay more once they arrive. I have pretty happy customers and a ton of repeat and referral business. If I get someone so bullheaded that they won't call me, I'll just email them letting them know I would love to hear what thier lowest quote was. they can call me and I'll let them know if I can save them money. I can't remember the last time I couldn't. Still, once in awhile I'll get a shopper who refuses to do this and demands a written quote. I lose these people and they probably end up paying more than they had to just out of stubborness. This doesn't happen very often though.

Thanks caribou1- Your explanation of it was not wasted on me since I've been a student of this Jeep since before I bought one. Running the diverted EGR exhaust back to exhaust (perhaps an auxiliary tail pipe!) would be the only reliable remedy to circumvent the plumbing mess they made. Now I have not had any problems with my CRD; do all service myself. However, the city/ stop-n-go fuel mileage is suspiciously low (17mpg in winter w/ my lug wheels mounted), which really costs me for my relatively short daily commute into the city. Vehicle weight, inertia don't explain that well enough, so I suspect 'foul' play. That technique could also provide benefits of more open exhaust, which diesels are known to like.

Wow! The first post I ever read in this forum has hit really close to home. Ouch ! I cycle around a city that is just beginning to accommodate bicycles in its transportation planning. I ride away from busy streets, or streets entirely, if possible. Stopping at every stop sign, just because motorists are required to do so, not only begs a primary reason to ride, but really increases vulnerability of a rider to be hit due to their lack of size and visibility and ability to accelerate very quickly. Bicycles do mostly have "license" to act as motor vehicles (in my state, anyway). This can translate to occupying an entire lane at well below the speed limit, which will not be appreciated by motorists at even moderate traffic levels. When bicyclists ride on sidewalks, road shoulders, or at the fog line; they are being being very courteous, in fact. I personally have no patience with the "Bicycle Pharisees" that exercise their right to hold up traffic while obeying all the laws to a tee. If a bicycle happens to break a rule and ticks you off, you might also see what inconveniences the rider is imposing on himself for the betterment of vehicular traffic flow, too. Give and take is fair.

mabors and bullhead thanks for the info! I made the mistake of buying an 05 Laredo without test driving it up here in the mountains. Did great in city, but put it on a mtn road and you are going 70 mph downhill before you blink an eye. I find myself braking, not driving for 30 miles a day, or driving in 3rd. The 15 miles per gallon is silly stupid right now. Made sure to test Liberty on a dirt motorcross area for a good 30 minutes as well as up and down mtn passes for 40 miles. Much better response than Laredo all the way around. Learned the hard way I guess... Picking Liberty up tomorrow. Whoo hooo, it's an early Christmas.
