How to drive....
by the_big_al on Fri Jun 27 16:16:56 PDT 2008
Okay so this is not really how people drive in Phoenix Az, but sometimes it's pretty close. Redmaxx, feel free to chime in :D Have a great Day!!!! How to Drive in Phoenix 1. You must first learn to pronounce the city name. It is "FEE-NICKS". 2. The morning rush hour is from 5:00am to noon. The evening rush hour is from noon to 7:00pm. Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning. 3. The minimum acceptable speed on most freeways is 85 mph. On Loop 101, your speed is expected to match the highway number. Anything less is considered "wussy". 4. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Phoenix has its own version of traffic rules. For example, cars/trucks with the loudest muffler go first at a four-way stop; the trucks with the biggest tires go second. However, East Valley , SUV-driving, cell phone-talking moms ALWAYS have the right of way. 5. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear ended, cussed out, and possibly shot. 6. Never honk at anyone...ever! Seriously! It's another offense that can get you shot. 7. Road construction is permanent and continuous in Phoenix . Detour barrels are moved around for your entertainment pleasure during the middle of the night to make the next day's driving a bit more exciting. 8. Watch carefully for road hazards such as drunks, skunks, dogs, barrels, cones, cows, horses, cats, mattresses, shredded tires, squirrels, rabbits, crows, vultures, javelinas, roadrunners, and the coyotes feeding on any of these items. 9. Maricopa Freeway, Papago Freeway and the "I-10" are the same road. SR-202 is the same road as The Red Mountain FWY. Dunlap and Olive are the same street, too. Jefferson becomes Washington , but they are not the same street. I-17 is also called The Black Canyon Freeway, as well as, The Veterans Memorial Highway, and if all that isn't enough to remember, SR-51 has recently been renamed Piestewa Freeway because Squaw Peak Parkway was too easy pronounce. SR-101 is also the Pima FWY, except west of I-17, which is also The Black Canyon FWY, and The Veterans Memorial HWY, west of I-17, it is known as the Agua Fria FWY. Lastly, Thunderbird Rd. becomes Cactus Rd. , but Cactus Rd. does not become Thunderbird Rd. because it dead-ends at a mountain. 10. If someone actually has their turn signal on, wave them to the shoulder immediately to let them know it has been "accidentally activated." 11. If you are in the left lane and only driving 70 in a 55-65 mph zone, you are considered a road hazard and will be "flipped off" accordingly. If you return the flip, you'll be shot. 12. For summer driving, it is advisable to wear potholders on your hands
Fantastic Deal On AN "06"
by darballman1 on Mon Jan 08 14:40:13 PST 2007
Last week bought a new 06 TL w/o NAV, with 24 miles on it at Weir Canyon Acura in Anaheim Hills. Bought a black/black with the Chrome Acura rims w/Michelin Tires. I paid $ 28,400 INCLUDING the chrome rims (retail: $ 1695/Dealer Cost: $700) Plus, the salesman threw in the protection pkg. for free. Not including the rims,I paid $2600. under invoice. Checked out the 07 extensively, and felt that the small difference was worth saving at least $4500. w/the rims. What an awesome car for $28K. And, as a added perk: my 1st tank of gas, MPG: City: 17/ Highway 35. And to think I almost bought an EXL-6 Accord for just $3500. Less......
Re: 06' CR-V EX 5-Sd Manual [psa]
by blueiedgod on Wed Dec 28 05:04:13 PST 2005
Just bought our EX at Invoice + Foglights ($478.00) installed. It was very difficult to find a manual transmission in the Bay Area. But, we lucked-out and the dealership we bought from had two to choose from. Alabaster Silver and Sahara Sand. We went with the Silver. We wanted the black interior. All things considered it was an easy deal and I probably could have got below the invoice but I am happy with deal I got. Also, we did the 2.9APR from Honda. Good man! I got an 05 manual, and it is a blast to drive on the highway, or through the city "canyons." Too bad many people can't appreciate it for what it is :-)
2005 G35 Sedan 6MT Prem
by nyalgaidin on Wed Nov 16 12:05:30 PST 2005
Just bought a 2005 G35 Sedan 6MT Prem A Black/Black for about $30200 before taxes/fees last week. Came out to $33200 out the door with 8.5% taxes and fees. Started negotiating at $34500 out the door. Invoice was $31670. Vehicle was purchased from Serramonte Infiniti, just south of San Francisco. I probably could've gotten a few hundred more off, but I've been running dealerships for a week and was tired. Not to mention gas prices are killer. Purchase experience was average all around, though I didn't get a full tank of gas out the door (forgot to check). Before you go in any dealership, have phone quotes from every close dealership on hand, with Edmunds/KBB invoice and TMV printout. Then make them beat the lowest dealer price by at least a few hundred. Repeat at other dealers. Never reveal how low you are willing to go. Infiniti at Redwood City offered a similarly configured coupe for $1200 below invoice. Found out next day the Seek button on the stereo sticks when pressed. Made an appointment and fixed today, no problems. Got a free carwash. Finding that shifting from 1 to 2 is less than smooth with a loud metal clicking sound from time to time. Will bring that in if it gets worse. Seems that quite a bunch of 6MT G35s have transmission problems. The vehicle has been a blast to drive, especially switching from an SUV. Cornering instills absolute confidence, if just short of perfection. Torque is overwhelming, enough that if you shift a tad later than normal, you'll easily blow by the speed limit. Though I do miss the Grand Canyon storage compartments of the SUV.
Finally got one

My dealer pulled a rabbit out of a hat and got me my Canyon. Onyx black, loaded to the gunwales, a real beauty. The I-5 is just fine. Plenty of power to tow my boat as well as cruise the highway. So far fuel economy is excellent at 20 MPG city and just a shade over 24 MPG highway. All in all I'm happy with it. Solid, well built vehicle and the XM radio is just not to be believed. Any faults are minor and insignificant

I bought my 03 Black Wrangler Sport in Jan 03'. It's equipped w/the 30"wheel pkg (gas shocks, Dana 44, Canyon wheels), limited slip, 4 wheel discs, Hardtop/softop, A/C, cruise, mats. I got it for 3.5% over invoice (Costco deal in my area). The Wrangler has been great except the gas mileage leaves a lot to be desired but understandable given its lack of aerodynamics. Currently getting almost 18mpg w/80% hwy. All city driving has been between 14 & 15 mpg. Gotten a high of 22mpg on all freeway at about 70mph constant. Anyhow, my dealer was eventually good but the salesperson tried the $4000 over sticker markup and such. This was even after I told him I used to sell cars (get a clue dude....LOL). I was ready to walk except they had my car keys. Finally finished the deal w/the salesmgr. The dealership is Chrysler Town & Country in Seattle, WA. It's a Jeep Thang, Stephen
