Re: replacing the navi DVD and the problem in the TSB [natoshoe]
by blueiedgod on Wed Dec 02 13:38:16 PST 2009
Maybe one day someone will figure out the firmware conflict so that I can use my NAV system again but now when I'm driving in The Netherlands, it shows me in California as I have to keep my US disc in it to set the clock for daylight savings, what a pain. I would just buy an aftermarket, or a Honda headunit from a junk yard for while you are in NL. And keep the US headunit until you return stateside. There are a much better alternatives to the stock headunit. Which for the US market is made by Panasonic, I believe. The issues you are having are probably because the EU Honda uses Apline built head-units. I would just get a Pioneer AVIC or similar Alpine unit. Worse come to worst, you get a cheap Chinese headunit with a 2 year life expectancy, and just junk it when it is dead. And if it is not dead by the time you leave NL, sell it.

I have the same problem, right down to the dealer fixing it once! Have you found a solution?
mine's not all that pretty....
by ghulet on Tue Nov 24 16:05:39 PST 2009
....I think before I bought it I posted pics but I can't find them...it has rust holes in the bottom of the front fenders, and the driver's seat is torn. The glovebox door was ripped off, but I fixed that (bought the door on eBay for $25, IIRC). Other than that, it's pretty good cosmetically (red leather otherwise fine w/normal patina, body has no dents, all glass good, a few scratches on original paint, dings here and there, but quite presentable for 22 years old). Also, pretty much everything (heat, a/c, seats, locks, sunroof, 3 windows, sometimes 4) work, and it has a decent Alpine CD stereo. I also like that I never see them any more, it's a tank, replacement tires are 14s, thus cheap, it gets decent mileage and isn't as slow as I thought it would be (though I have little to compare it to). So far, I feel like I did OK.
