Re: Bikes to save fuel [steve_]: by gagrice on Sun Jun 29 06:17:04 PDT 2008; San Diego with arguably the best weather in the US outside of Hawaii, should be a great place to ride a bike year round. Most of the bike routes are part of the road system with a separating white line. It really is not a safe place to ride in my opinion. There are some bike paths along the beach that are so crowded with bikes, skateboards, razors, rollerblades & joggers that it may be safer riding on the highways. If you are a gungho Mt Biker there are some extreme trails to try. Overall I would say San Diego gets a D- for being bicycle friendly. Before I moved out of Anchorage/Eagle River area in the early 1990s they were just finishing a nice wide dedicated bike path from Anchorage to past Eagle River. It was very nice. I think it gets used more in the winter by cross country skiers than the summer. This is what a bike trail should look like. Lines on a main road do not count as bike paths. Re: Coal conversion ... [steve_]: by gagrice on Sat Mar 22 12:56:51 PDT 2008; Our home was out at the end of Eagle River road. Then 2.7 miles up Prudhoe Bay drive. No natural gas out there. Gas & electric used to be cheap in Anchorage because of the free natural gas from the Beluga field. Not any more. They pay the going price. It can be pricey to heat some of those mega homes built in the 1980s and 90s in Anchorage. Unleaded is usually about the same as CA or just a little less. They don't use all that designer gas we have.

Re: OH DEER - LOOK OUT! [steve_]: by gagrice on Sun Jun 10 18:31:35 PDT 2007; One went through a little Subaru on Eagle River road when I lived up the valley. Killed two teenagers. Broad daylight coming down the hill too fast. That was a mess. Don't you get a lot of deer where you are in Idaho?

Re: 98' astro dead power locks [thelek]: by hagglundbv206 on Sat Sep 30 15:07:18 PDT 2006; I just figured out my dead locks and it was just a 20amp fuse in the box under the dash. was marked cigar or something like that. check all those fuses again, it's easy to miss this fuse beacause you'd think to look at the one that says dl or door locks, not the case.

98' astro dead power locks: by hagglundbv206 on Fri Sep 08 23:58:18 PDT 2006; my 98' astro power door locks are all dead. I have checked the fuses and tried disconnecting the rear switch and the front door switches, I also disconnected the relay which is located in the compartment with the jack. any ideas? kinda pointless to have a van if I can't even open the rear door. thanks
