Re: Vibration after 6 mo and 4000 miles! [freddieb80] by rcummelin on Fri Feb 10 05:50:41 PST 2012

IMHO, the 2007 model year was the high point for the Accord. The quality of the Accord has quickly gone downhill since then, which is too bad. Honda is now the "lead standard" (instead of gold) for quality & reliability. Hondas might make good boat anchors. Good luck wth your pursuit of the Lemon Law. If all else fails, trade your car in on something else BEFORE the rest of the world figures out how crappy Hondas have become, and their values decline accordingly (no pun intended).

Warming trend = continuing by larsb on Thu Feb 09 06:11:26 PST 2012

At least we are warm in the USA - except those sad sacks who gotta live in Alaska... Warming still going... U.S. Climate Highlights -- Winter to Date (December 2011-January 2012) The first two months of the winter season, December and January, have been much warmer than average for the contiguous United States. The two-month period was the fourth warmest on record with an average temperature 3.8 degrees F above average. Much of the warmth was anchored across the northern and eastern United States. Minnesota was record warm for the period, with an average temperature 10.1 degrees F above average. A total of twenty-two states from Montana to Maine had December-January temperatures ranking among their ten warmest. Despite a large winter storm which impacted the western U.S. during January, much of the region was drier than average. California had its fourth driest December-January period, and Montana had its sixth. Wetter-than-average conditions were observed in a string of states from New Mexico to New York, with Texas having its eleventh wettest two-month period. U.S. Climate Highlights -- Last 12 months (February 2011-January 2012) The 12-month period, ending in January, was the sixth warmest such period for the contiguous United States, with warmer-than-average temperatures dominating the eastern two-thirds of the nation. Seven states -- Delaware, New Jersey, North Carolina, Maryland, Rhode Island, Texas, and Virginia -- were record warm for the period, while an additional 18 states had 12-month temperatures ranking among their ten warmest. Oregon and Washington were the only states with below-average temperatures during the period. The nationally-averaged precipitation total for the 12-month period was near average, masking regional extremes. The Ohio Valley and Northeast were record wet for the period, with seven states within those regions also being record wet. Dry conditions were present along the southern tier of the nation from New Mexico to South Carolina.

Re: 2012 Sienna AWD XLE vs. Limited [kukar] by desna78 on Tue Feb 07 08:16:56 PST 2012

Hi Kukar I have no idea about what rebates were part of the deal. I negotiated with the dealer over the internet (email) back and forth for couple days. I knew (thanks to edmunds) what would be the MSRP/sticker for the van I like and basically offered to dealer $8k off MSRP. finally they offered $40,000 for van with MSRP $44,934 and I agreed to buy it. I think it was a good deal. State: Crystal Lake, IL (Pauly Toyota). This is from email I got from the dealer: dealer did not know about my traid in at that time. I got $10,500 for my 04 Sienna LE with 60k miles. Selling Price 40000.00 Trade Allowance Cash Difference 40000.00 SBO 0.00 Doc Fee 154.38 Elec. Re: Real world MPG [jpelletier] by nyccarguy on Wed Feb 01 17:24:46 PST 2012

The Pilot is our 3rd Honda as well. It is my wife's DD. We bought it primarily for the room. We have 3 children 5 1/2, 3, & 2 months. They are all in child safety seats. The Pilot allows us to seat all 3 of them in the 2nd row, leaving the 3rd row stowed away for cavernous cargo room. There's even a set of LATCH anchors in the 3rd row where the boys (5.5 & 3) like to sit. I also bought it for the reliability, it's a Honda after all. 4WD was a top priority for me too. Don't write the Pilot off due to its abismal gas mileage. You should drive it back to back with its competition. You are a Honda guy & might not like the softer ride of the Highlander (which is 10" shorter than the Pilot). Read the consumer reviews here on edmunds. Everybody who owns a Pilot really loves it. The other 2 Hondas in my current stable: 2010 Black/Ebony Acura TSX w/ Tech pkg 5AT (47K miles) 2001 Milano Red/Black Honda Prelude Type SH 5MT (145K miles) Good luck & let us know what you decide.

2000 Sienna sliding door problem fixed by pamister on Sun Jan 22 16:43:28 PST 2012

When my wife arrived at work she needed to get in the passenger side power sliding door. When she finished she went to close it and it would not budge. Yours truly had to drive 20 miles to check it out. Sure enough there was no closing it. After looking at all of the possibilities - removing the inside panel, checking the door motor, and cable; I had about given up. Then I noticed that the lights were dimmer than usual and that cranking the engine sounded like the battery was on its last leg. I ended up putting a new battery in. Shazam, the power door was able to close. Have not had a problem with it since. Any write-ups I have checked out do not make any reference to a low battery being the cause. One side note. In the process of trying to manually close the door I busted the outside handle loose from the forward anchor. So now have to take the door panel off anyway and replace that handle. The wonders of plastic.
