2012 Ram 1500 Sport 4dr Quad Cab SB (5.7L 8cyl 6A)

I have a 2012 Ram 1500 "Express" 2 wheel drive quad cab. The truck rides superbly, has plenty of power (is actually quite quick), and is very spacious on the interior with plenty of storage and random nooks and crannys to put random things. Sound quality is good on stock stereo system and interior quality is good. HOWEVER, gas mileage is terrible (8-9 city, 13-14 highway). This is the truck for you if you love to search for gears, downshift randomly, have erratic RPMs at steady speed, idle at low RPMs to the point of the truck bogging out. I will be taking my truck to the service department with 982 miles showing on the odometer

Best Features

"truck" feel, "car" ride Power power power spacious CHEAP

Worst Features

spend the extra money and buy a ford, I went against my better judgement due to the price on this dodge. mistake mistake mistake and I will reiterate mistake. Horrible Terrible gas mileage (8-9 city 13-14 highway) even though they advertise 14 city and 20 highway. Transmission/ Econo mode is difficult to deal with, constantly searches for gear and RPMs are NEVER steady at any sort of speed maintained

I now have 3008 miles on the truck, it has been in my dealerships service department 2 times, seems they were able to fix the issue after giving me quite the run around. truck gets about 16 mpg mixed driving, still seems to struggle a bit at highway speed but does not downshift randomly like it used to.

Seems so unfair...I got the runaround from my dealership too, but, I would have loved leaving there with a better driving experiece. Ram would have hit a home run, if they weren't trying to fix the lousy gas mileage and subsequent performance on the cheap. I will never buy another "Chrylser" product!

Dear "Zero" Found your post interesting, as I have commented on the same issue and ended up selling and taking a bath on my truck after just 3 months of ownership. The dealer will not be able to help. This is American ingenuity at it's worst. As I told my customer rep I would'nt have minded the rumbling, lagging, coughing, you name it the truck did had the reward been in better gas mileage, it still sucks after ALL THESE YEARS. John
