- The speculation is over as the 2008 Porsche Panamera has been given the official green light. Indeed, the Porsche Panamera has been approved for production in Leipzig, alongside the Cayenne SUV and the feisty Carrera GT, beginning in 2008. The Panamera could very well be powered from a modified version of the Cayenne's V8, which will be laid out in the front of the vehicle. Porsche plans on selling the vehicle in quantities of 20,000 annually. Contrary to industry gossip, Porsche will not be venturing into a partnership with a sponsoring manufacturer to develop the Panamera, choosing instead to build the vehicle on a unique rear-wheel-drive chassis of its own creation.
