2006 Porsche Cayenne Road Test Ratings

The cargo space of a small SUV and the quality and performance of a Porsche.

A huge range in performance capability, from a lowly V6 to a twin-turbo V8. Bring money. All have good chassis behavior, although the V6 editions feel heavy.

Good driving position and well-fitting seats. The ride varies depending on model, but is generally sporty with good isolation from road noise.

Cargo space is not the Cayenne's forte. The interior is overly complicated with numerous similarly shaped buttons.

No one will mistake the Cayenne for anything other than a Porsche. Whether that works as an SUV concept or not is debateable. Build quality is top-notch.
