2005 Porsche Cayenne S AWD 4dr SUV (4.5L 8cyl 6A)

Review

This is a really fun vehicle to drive. It is solid and reliable to own. My dealer and Porsche have been very responsive to any problems. It eats gas except for at highway speeds though.

Favorite Features

Love to drive it.

Suggested Improvements

Porsche should offer maintenance in the price of the vehicle.

Review

This is the best car I have ever owned in my life for the purpose that I use it for. It is an SUV and it still offers all of the features of Porsche!

Favorite Features

The handling, room, looks, appointments, and how it is so fun to drive.

Suggested Improvements

Give it more horsepower (If that's legal).

2005 Porsche Cayenne Tiptronic AWD 4dr SUV (3.2L 6cyl 6A)

Review

My 1995 Porsche Cayenne has excellent quality throughout. It is fun to drive, but go easy on the gas pedal - this thing drinks like a fish! If you can set the 16 MPG aside, you will fall in love with the Porsche Cayenne.

Favorite Features

The GPS, 19 inch sport wheels, and the tow package make the Porsche Cayenne an impressive SUV.

Suggested Improvements

With a growing family, we are beginning to realize that a larger SUV would better suit our needs.

Ultimate Sport "Utility" Vehicle

Vehicle

2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo AWD 4dr SUV (4.5L 8cyl Turbo 6A)

Review

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo is the ultimate "utility" vehicle, being extremely capable on the road, offering good performance off-road, a good towing capacity of 7,700 lbs., and feeling good doing it all. Nothing else really compares to it. If you are not planning on taking advantage of this superb technology, I would suggest getting a BMW X5, Lexus RX350, or an Audi Q7. Most SUV owners never tow or take the vehicle off road, so save your money and shop elsewhere. Also, the Cayenne Turbo is equipped with high performance, soft Pirelli tires that wear quickly...something the customer needs to understand.

Favorite Features

The adjustable ride height (allows better driving on the highway at 2nd lowest setting and off road with highest setting), acceleration, and handling (almost sports car like, feels very high quality).

Suggested Improvements

A touch screen nav system would be an improvement over ALL those buttons. Also, this really should be considered a mid-size SUV. If you are carrying more than three people, I would consider a larger SUV or one with a 3rd seat.

The Cayenne's V6 engine lacks some pickup, but that's not why I bought it. It is roomy and looks good.

Favorite Features

It looks great and is quiet.

Suggested Improvements

Give it a better stereo.

Review

I love the car but wish the cup holders were bigger. This seems like a petty complaint, but other designers manage to work it in. Also, I wish I did not have to "pop" the gasoline door. With 12,000 miles I still have not had an oil change although I've tried to schedule it twice. I was told both times to wait until I get closer to 20,000 miles.

Favorite Features

The power.

Suggested Improvements

Give it a larger cup holder, and a fuel fill that works with door lock. If the car is locked I can't refuel. If it is unlocked, it will open. (Like my Audi)

2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo AWD 4dr SUV (4.5L 8cyl Turbo 6A)

Review

I purchased a used but untitled Porsche Cayenne Turbo about 8 months ago. I have put approximately 10,000 miles on it (it previously had 5,000). It has had absolutely no problems. Its acceleration and handling are on par with most sport cars. Its off-road handling is also excellent. The adjustable ride height is a must if you plan to do any significant off-road driving. However, this option also improves daily driving, allowing you to set a fairly low, more car-like ride height.

Favorite Features

The acceleration, handling, and build quality.

Suggested Improvements

The turbo lag can be annoying...sometimes pauses from a stop. The keyfob needs separate buttons for locking and unlocking the vehicle. Compared to other new cars I own, the navigation system needs to be significantly updated, probably new software could solve this problem.

2005 Porsche Cayenne S AWD 4dr SUV (4.5L 8cyl 6A)

Review

The Porsche Cayenne has a stellar motor, taught suspension, and unreal handling for a 5,000 lb. truck. The tiptronic shifters on the steering wheel are outstanding. The interior fit and finish are superb, its ergonomics are comfortable, and its driving position is firm and supportive. This truck's quality and design are German to the nth degree, which is a great thing. The navigation and stereo are both easy to use. The sound system is excellent. This vehicle has lots of usable space and the back seats are spacious. Folding the seats down could be easier though. I've had two very small problems in 14,000 miles. First, there was a rattle in the rear door which was a cable that became unfastened - easy fix by the dealer. The second was that the windshield wipers were sqeaky - they were replaced by the dealer. I have never had any mechanical issues.

Favorite Features

The burly motor, especially in tiptronic mode. this truck flies up mountain roads, passing with ease. It handles better than most sport sedans and as well as some sports cars. Its instrument panel, navigation, and steering wheel controls are all top notch. The dual sun visors are great, I like the seat heaters.

Suggested Improvements

Complain about milage? Maybe you're looking at the wrong car. It's not too bad, just not great + the cost of premium gas adds up. Oh well. The Cayenne should have an additional lighter socket for a phone charger AND a radar detector. There is a second socket behind the center console, but two up near the ashtray would be better.

Review

The Porsche Cayenne is the best of all the SUVs. It has decent off road performance combined with smooth on road performance. If you will do most of your driving on road, get performance tires (not off road or M&S). The ride will be much better, and the cornering performance is on par with many sport sedans.

Review

I thought that the Porsche Cayenne was the last SUV I'd ever consider buying, but after a test drive, I was sold. It's sexy, stylish, turns great, and has outstanding breaks. Plus, it is safer than other SUV's. this truck is excellence at its best.

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

It could use an easier navigation system and blue tooth.
