My continental tires on my turbo lasted about 20,000 miles too...... too fast of wear, but normal for these high acceleration, quick deceleration heavier vehicles. NORMAL> Back when Porsche was overflowing with money, I was able to talk my dealer into giving me a free set of 2 new continental tires for FREE..... but that was then. Now, with Volkswagon in control...there is NO way for that. Good luck...guys.
What is the 0-60 of a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S
If one wants a Cayenne for road racing.... 19 or 20 inch tires are great. For highway or off road... the 18 inch size is more desirable from a ride quality and durability stand point. On my second Cayenne Turbo (2005 from 2004) I immediately put on some Khumo tires which I ran 38,000 miles, yes 38,000, and had about 5/32 left when I took them off because of the noise. ... Hello all, new to the group and new to Porsche, need some help please. Just bought a 2004 Cayenne S (Semi Auto). When I start the engine after refilling the petrol, it sort of goes on igniting and then cuts off, it does not start up as normal, but it always starts up on the second try. Am I doing something wrong?? Not sure if warranty will cover. Live in England...... ... Read More
Silly question - I have the newer version PCM-DVD for the Navi System in my 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo - Where does it go??
Not sure where in IL you're from, but I just traded in my '04 545 for an '04 Cayenne S at Napleton Porsche of Westmont on Ogden Ave.. They were great. The S has 25,000 and is certified so it's under warranty for 6/100,000. I didn't get as much for my 545 as I had hoped, but overall the deal was good, and the S is like new. They are a ... Read More
Hi boys, I am an older female who has driven Porsches since before most of you were born. 1960 saw me in a '58 356A Coupe. My first Cayenne Turbo was 2004, 30,000 miles in 11 months and I wanted the rear view camera and pano roof....so.....BIG HIT on trade. Exact figures were about $30,000 diff. But I got a roof, camera, wooden gearshift and every other option. Maintenance is actually ... Read More
I got my 2004 Cayenne S CPO so I didn't do the 15,000 mile service, but I just did the 30,000 mile one. It cost $1,600 which is basically a standard fee for the service. Obviously, the 15,000 mile service is less extensive so I would say $500 is entirely reasonable. Take it to Jiffy Lube??? I would never consider that. Regularly scheduled service for a vehicle under warranty should always ... Read More
Just found on Edmunds that the Cayenne Turbo they tested in 2004 braked 60-0 in 116 feet. I would imagine that the new Turbo S would be able to beat that or at least match it. This is an interesting read too: http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/do/vdp/articleId=109458/pageNumber=1?s- ynpartner=edmunds&pageurl=www.edmunds.com/new/2006/porsche/cayenne/100684771/roa- dtestarticle.html&articleId=109458
Hi all - first-time Porsche buyer and I would really appreciate any advice on pricing for a Northern California, 2004 Black/Black Cayenne S with 15k miles. Excellent shape, 18" Cayenne Turbo Wheels, Bi-Xenon Headlights with Washers, PCM II, Air Suspension with PASM, Trailer hitch w/o ball (don't want it, but oh well), Moonroof, Sports Aluminum Package, Front and Rear Park Assist. 1 owner. Need to make a decision as soon as ... Read More
I own a Cayenne 2004 19" wheels Pirelli tires. For the last 3 months I have dealt with an annoying steering wheel vibration, that initially I blamed the new tires . The dealer has tried to fix it 3 times now and does not go away. There are several technical bulletins from Porsche describing this issue , but no fix on site yet. I am about to apply for the Florida ... Read More
Just had my 2004 Cayenne stolen from my driveway this weekend. The car was not locked but the keys were not in it. The "anti-theft" system with immobilizer apparently doesn't defeat the determined or the professional. We were at home and the driveway lights were on but neither we nor our normally hyperactive border collie heard anything. Just wondering if others have experienced what appears to be an easy way around ... Read More
I have a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S that has been having an extremely annoying intermittent door lock problem. Forgetting for the moment the apparent “paranoia” and irrational design of the German door locking philosophy I could sure use some help. More ranting on the philosophy later… First of all I have the system re-programmed to open ALL doors with the remote after I had the unfortunate incident of having passengers get ... Read More
Gentlemen, I purchased a 2004 Cayenne S, Titanium / Grey car two months ago and am wondering if any of you have the same problem that I do with my vehicle. First of all I noticed this same problem on the 2005 I test drove before I purchased the 2004 from the Porsche dealer but did not think it was anything at the time. I have noticed that from time to ... Read More
Boca, I guess we are one of the lucky few with blackout trim! It does look awesome on black! Maybe we should start an accessories thread! On ebay you can get some excellent looking floor mats with Cayenne or Porsche embroidered across the middle. These are Lloyds' mats and far superior to the stock ones. I believe the company on ebay that has them is US Speed. I saw a painted ... Read More
To For Cay or not to Cay, Go for it!! I do not think you will be anything but glad you did. I have a 2004 Cayenne S with 20,000 miles on it and the only problem I have had was a faulty drivers window switch and the aforementioned exterior discoloring of the silver trim, both replaced to my satisfaction by my porsche dealer under warranty. The only difference I see ... Read More
Boca, I had my 2004 Black Cayenne S in service twice to have the silver exterior trim looked at. It looked dull and stained. I was told that they would replace the trim if I wanted. They buffed it out and it looked good but only lasted about 2 months. I took it in again and same thing happened. Meanwhile I saw that black out trim was available as an option ... Read More
My exterior silver trim keeps discoloring on my 2004 Cay S. Porsche service buffs it out and it looks good for a month or two and then returns even worse than it was. I complained to my dealer and asked that it not only be replaced but be replaced with the black trim that you can now order as an option. I will let you know how that turns out. I ... Read More
Be careful with that one...I was quoted 15% off MSRP on a 2004 Cay S model last month. Truthfully, the car depreciated from $66k to $56k in one year, so it wasn't really a "deal". That's MSRP on a car one year old with low miles. I'm totally convinced that the way to go on a Cayenne is one that's about a year old with less than 12k miles, and get ... Read More
"Wrong info: No, you cannot put Nav CD in rear, so front is dedicated to nav., per dealer. No, dealer refused to upgrade remote, so that is untrue. No, Salesbook doesn't say you have to buy spare and no tape cassette" I think your main problerm is the dealer and you did not read the sales brochure or the owners manual completely 1. You can put a cd in the front ... Read More
Just picked up a 2005 Cayenne S at a pretty good price (I think), $5K off MSRP. I saw that jimvee got $7K off MSRP in Florida, but that was for 2004 model during late 2004. This is a 2005 model, purchased in 2004, and in the Bay Area. Anyway, I talked to a few other dealerships and this is the best price I got. The place is Carlsen Porsche ... Read More

Power upgrade is only on Turbo model. Also, I forgot to mention, 04 models Turbo can also get the Tequiment upgrade (500hp) for $18,500. Not cheap but will get the Cay TT 0-60 under 5 secs (4.9sec vs 5.2 sec). Please don't use the dollar to sub seconds ROI calculation. Instead use the the ROFF (Return on Fun factor) calculation and buy only if extra dollars are in the bank. :-) ... Read More
The fact is that the 2005 cars are sitting at the docks waiting for delivery to dealers. Porsche held those so they can move more 2004 of the lots. If dealers add up the inventory of current 2004 and in waiting 2005's it is well over 60 day inventory. 60 days is considered a point where most manufactures give some incentives to move the vehicles. But Porsche thinking is that the ... Read More
To whoever is interested, if you are waiting for rebates from Porsche, you are dreaming! The 2004 models are discounted heavily (depending on the dealer)since the 2005 models are coming out next month. I just signed up for a 2004 Cayenne S at almost $8K off MSRP, or a few hundred dollars under invoice. I am taking delivery on Monday! This is the second car I buy from this dealer within ... Hi, I live in the SF Bay Area, and I'd like to buy an outgoing 04 Cayenne. I have quotes from Rector, Carlsen, and Sonnen, at this point. They all seem to be discounting the Cay V6 by $5000, on average off MSRP, is this a fair price ? Stevens Creek Porsche is discounting some of their Cayenne S models by $10,000. Any recommendations on people and/or dealers you have had ... Read More
I thought I would take the time to post a few thoughts here, since I have read most of the posts on this forum. I am getting ready to buy a 2004 Cayenne S, tomorrow. Hard to believe that people are paying the rack rate on 2004 Cayennes so late in the 04 season. My Lapis S was discounted more than 10 percent about 6 weeks ago (in Louisiana). There, look for the link to your dealer of choice and you will find all the cars listed with their ... Read More

have a Performance SUV comparison test pitting the Cayenne S against the BMW X5 4.4, Infiniti FX45, and Cadillac SRX. Well, according to MT, the Cayenne is, performance wise, NUMBER 1. What they are referring to is the fact that the Cayenne lapped the Street Course of Willow Springs ... Read More

I'm disappointed with how stiff the ride in my 2004 cayenne is. I'm wondering if it's because of the wheels that came on the car? It has the 18" turbo wheels with all weather tires. Might different wheels help or should I consider paying the price to swap my car for one that has the air suspension?
When was your Cayenne built? Is it a 2003 model? Mine was built 7-03 but it's supposed to be a 2004 model. Maybe the condensation is due to a different housing design or supplier of the headlight. Just trying figure this out. I'm sure Porsche will make it right, just kind of annoying for an otherwise perfect vehicle. I did notice many of the Cayennes (2004) on the lot having this ... Read More
cw_rock: Ok. It's accepted nation-wide (should be!) because apparently, this deal is through Porsche. It's $399 per month + tax, 5-year lease. $3,500 down. Residual 45% ($20,200). Max 10,000 miles/year. I've never seen such a great deal in a while (i mean, what Mercedes can you get for $399/month?) I'm not sure how long this deal will last, but because it's a national program, almost all dealers should accept it and ... Read More
I am highly-considering a new '04 Cayenne V6 model for my daughter. She is at Harvard, and so as a gift/birthday surprise, my wife and I are considering buying her a Cayenne. It seems as though they ... Read More
