Re: Do Boxsters still have the problem of the engine 'letting go'? [mrrogers]
Mr. Rogers, I think you're off a little with the Certified Pre-Owned warranty and how long it lasts. I'm pretty sure, it's 2 extra years to the factory warranty, which is 4 years and 50,000 miles. This is based on the in-service date and when the factory warranty expires. I doubt there are many or any 2002 Boxsters that are CPO. They would be expiring in 2008, unless ... Read More...
Re: Do Boxsters still have the problem of the engine 'letting go'? [johnxyz]
I read where Road & Track Editor-at-Large Peter Egan had to have the engine replaced on his used Boxster S. Forunately he had the Certified Pre Owned warranty. He wrote a great column about buying his Boxster. His wife told him that there a only so many summers, so he needs this convertible! The Porsche CPO warranty is only for two years. I see CPO Boxsters from dealers ... Read More...
Re: 2003 Porsche Boxer [zenrookie]
The November issue of Road & Track has a great article about purchasing used boxsters. I think the best advice given was to bring the car to a dealership or shop that specializes or is vary familiar with them... The top things they suggest looking for (and they talk in more detail about each of these) are: -Examine the engine for oil leaks and coolant leaks -Be aware ... Read More...
Re: 2003 Porsche Boxer [zenrookie]
Upper range for 2003 Boxster pricing is $28,500-28,700 but I imagine the seller is considering the extremely low mileage. Is he throwing in any extras, or is the Box stock as a rock? For top dollar, you can get picky, but it will probably pass a pre-purchase inspection with flying colors. I envy you! For more info on buying, check out mike focke's web site and the ... Porsche Boxster Lease Questions
My $0.02...
I too, think you negotiated a great price on the car... But, lease deals on most Porsche models are not that great.. Unless you absolutely have to lease, I'd just buy the car.. The payment with tax for a 60 month loan at 6.5% would only be around $850, including tax and with nothing out of pocket. At the end of 3 years, you'll only owe $19,100 on the loan, and you'll only ... Read More...
Re: Boxster or BMW Z4 [alp8]
Well, how about the perspective of another Porsche and BMW owner? I've previously owned 3 Porsches, and currently own a BMW 325i and Z4 2.5i (both from 2003). I thought about the SLK and Boxster as well as the Z4. The SLK didn't have the sport car handling I'm used to - I think it's beautiful and makes the best daily driver of the trio, and if I were looking for a sports ... Read More...
Re: 2005 boxster/or used 2002/2003 boxster s - what do you all think ? [hab
habitat1, thanks a lot for the detailed advice, what you say makes sense. i am going to try and see if i can find a 2005 with the options i want. i do want to keep it for around 3 years, which was a factor in looking at a used boxster S. The trouble is that i have come to realize that its really hard to find a "good deal" on a porsche here in the DC area. a dealer here wanted to sell ... Read More...
Re: 2005 boxster/or used 2002/2003 boxster s - what do you all think ? [ignap]
I'd probably go for the 2005 base Boxster: (1) It has 240hp - almost as much as the 2002/3 Boxster S (252, I think). Overall, I think the difference in performance between the two - acceleration and handling - would be relatively minimal. The difference beteen the old base Boxster at 217 hp and the new Boxster S at 280 is enormous. But not the two models you are considering. ... Read More...
Re: Help wanted [newfrontier]
My clubs in a medium size cart bag fit in the back trunk of the 2005 Boxster, although it was a little tighter than in the S2000 which has a deeper trunk. The rear trunk of the Boxster is shallow, but the additional front trunk is deep enough for a medium size suitcase or larger duffle bag. Given the two trunks of the Boxster, it has total capacity that's the best among ... Read More...
Bent rim
I have a 2003 Boxster S with the optional 18" rims and the Porsche crest. Unfortunately while driving in New York City, I hit a pothole that caused a sizeable bend in the rim and made the tire go flat. I was able to limp to a gas station where the rim was hammered back to a point that the tire could be mounted and there apperared to be no leak. The car, which is a weekend vehicle, ... Read More...
