Re: Will order 2007 C4S [blckislandguy]
I appreciate the compliment, but I am hardly a "guru". I've been a Porsche owner for all of 5 1/2 months. My friend with a 2001 911TT (gettinga 2007 911 TT) has, by contrast been a Porsche owner for 30+ years. My dealer thought I should be able to sell my 2005 w/ 5,000 miles for about 13-15% under it's original MSRP (not the current/increased 2006 MSRP), and thought ... Read More...
Re: Will order 2007 C4S [habitat1]
I don't have the same knowledge base as say Habitat1 to address the option question. But let me tackle depreciation. C4SLover thinks that the difference between a new '07 and a used '06 911 will be $5000 plus a two month opportunity cost. I don't think so. Sure, maybe for one magical day in August, that might be the case. But at the midpoint of the model year, say in ... Read More...
Re: Will order 2007 C4S [c4slover]
Sport Shifter: The standard 911 shifter is not bad, but they are definitely longer throws than my former 2002 Honda S2000, which arguably had the best gearbox (not clutch) in the business. So I've opted for the sport shifter in the 2006 911 I have on order. Sport Exhaust: Again, because it's tied to the sport chrono on my car, it's impossible to tell if the sport exhaust ... Re: Merc [designman]
I was kind of teasing you because if I recall correctly you never really cared for the Boxster. Anyway, many people have said that the Boxster always handled better than the 911. Both have evolved but I think the lesser disparity in power between the two today is allowing the Boxster to be more noticed and come into its own. Well you got me there! I thought I had said ... Porsche 911 C4 Pricing
I've never purchased a Porsche before and am considering purchasing 2 next year - a Cayenne S for my wife (waiting for the 2007 model due out Spring 2006) and a C4 or C4S Coupe for myself. Doese Porsche do any discounting on its newer cars, or do I need to wait for the new body styles to have been on the market for a while? If so, how long? I live in CT and there are many dealers ... 4WD Tradeoffs
I live in New England, my driveway is reasonably steep, and I will drive my 911 all year round. A year ago, I asked my dealer when the C4 would be released, and he replied nobody knew Porsche's plans, but in his estimate it wouldn't be out until 2007. First question: was he straight with me, or just trying to close a sale? Now, of course, the C4 has been released, and, ... Read More...
Buying my first Porsche
Hi, I am taking the last few careful steps before I own a Porsche. I am debating between a 2005 Boxster Conv and 2003 911(996) Carrera cab(RWD). My heart is for the latter (cant afford a new 911 though). Pardon my long post ! I wanted feedback and guidance on 3 key things : 1. Any known issues or things to watch out from a day to day or maintainence issues POV on either ... Read More...
