Review of the 2005 Porsche 911

  • Still the quintessential sports car after four decades, the 2005 Porsche 911 has a unique blend of style, performance and sound that's unmatched by anything on the road.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Pinpoint steering, effortless acceleration, awe-inspiring brakes, the rhythmic sound of a powerful flat six, comfortable cockpit.

  • Cons

Relatively small fuel tank, useless rear seats, outlandish option prices.

  • What's New for 2005

While the traditional 911 lines have been retained, just about everything else has changed on Porsche's flagship. Notable changes to the 2005 Porsche 911 include more powerful engines, a new transmission, variable-ratio rack-and-pinion steering, an adjustable suspension and new seating options in a redesigned passenger compartment.

Vehicle: 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S AWD 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 6M)

My 4th Porsche 911, and each one has gotten better and better. This one is by far the best of all: it has more speed, comfort, luxury, handling. In this modern world, it is nice to know that the 911 remains one of those special cars, and as the old ad says, "there is no substitute"...still.

Vehicle: 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S AWD 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 6M)

After one year this car is still just as much fun to drive. The convertible top is a neat feature and this car's reliability has been excellent.

Vehicle: 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S AWD 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 6M)

I love my car. It's fast, fun to drive, sticks to the road and I feel safe driving it. I love driving with the top down. The only thing I have a complaint about is the emissions. I've had to take it to service a few times to adjust the check engine light. The emissions system is very delicate on this car.
