Hello all. I need some help please. I just purchased a 99 911 and it is in good shape for a 99 with 93k on it. I had to have new tires done and a few minor things but over all the car is in VGC. I've answered my own question. I've talked to a couple of dealer in So Cal, and I can take $8K discount (it is now $8K only on 911, not $10K), and not get special low money factor, but get regular Porsche lease deal. I'm toying with the idea of buying a 1999-2000 911 C2 with manual shift. My price point is around $25,000. Don't want to go over that to be honest. This would be a 2nd/Weekender Toy to be garaged during the week. I'm looking at a 2000 911 Carrera Coupe. It currently has about 38k miles and they are asking 35k. I have been trying to find out maintenance costs for this car. How much are inspections and other routine costs? Is there a big inspection at 40 or 50K miles that will cost a lot? Thanks, Dan Read More...

Chromedome: I agree entirely. I have a few more years on you (about to turn 63) and one more Porsche, just acquired my 5th. Had a '69 911 back in the early '70s, then a new 914, then a '73 911 targa, then nothing for 25 years. The 996 up to year 2000 had a significant number of chassis issues with stock 18" tires...not structural so much as vibration, water leaks, cracking glass, etc. all due to the shock of the 18"s. I am looking at a 2000 C2 Cab with 42,000 miles and asked my local mechanic about the RMS issue. He works on all types of Porsches and took excellent care of my 87 911. He said if the seal has not been replaced he will do it for around $600 (6 hours of labor and $70 in parts).
