RS America gave U.S. customers a lighter-weight, track-day version of the Carrera 2. Stock hp, but with A/C, power steering, sunroof and rear seats deleted; sport suspension, whale tail, Cup Design wheels added. 1993 Carrera RS 3.8 featured a Turbo Look body with biplane rear wing, 300 hp and 18-inch Speedline wheels — front, 9 inches wide; rear, 11 inches wide. The 1993 Carrera 2 Speedster was an option built on the standard Carrera 2 Cabriolet that featured a cut-down windshield and a manual top that folded under a twin hump fiberglass cover. Nine-hundred thirty-six were built. 1993 was the last full year of production for the Type 964. Synthetic oil and CFC-free refrigerant became standard items. Fewer than 600 U.S./Canada Targas were built. The 1993 RS America was offered in limited numbers to North American customers. It was intended as a stripped-down lightweight street/track car that weighed 2,954 pounds. It featured a whale tail rear spoiler, sport suspension and 17-inch Cup Design wheels.
