flkelbel, I apologize for your frustrations. Can you please email me with your VIN, and involved dealer? I look forward to your response. Christina GM Customer Service
I'd ask him to double check those wires and plugs. Bad ignition could lead to fouling of the throttle body, and I'd guess that would ultimately lead to injector issues. But it could be unrelated. At 33K at least you are under warranty, just try to find all the problems soon.
I have a 09 Torrent, started experiencing a stutter/hiccup last week, hits usually betw 50-55mph, I thought it was bc I needed a new air filter, bad gas etc..called the dealer, rep mentioned the wires/spark plugs and I took it in today. Just got a call from him, it was actually a bad fuel injector, it was intermittently running on 5 cylinders instead of 6 and he also suggested an induction ... Read More
I bought a brand new torrent in 2007, it now has 36,500 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems with the check engine light, abs light, and traction control lights. I have had this car in numerously for repairs and still having problems with it. I am now into the extended warranty for repairs for the same problems during the factory warranty. Again it is in the shop less ... Read More
I have the same issue with my 2007 Pontiac Torrent and called customer service only to be told that my VIN did not fall into recall, even though my car has the the same issues that the recall is supposed to cover. We had this car in and out of dealer for varius issues while it was under warrenty, none which ever really were fixed, just band-aided and now it's out ... Read More
Thank you for your information. I thought the accleration issues and the "lurching" issues where in my head so to speak. Glad to know it is not just me.
yea i know but japan and chinese are totally different auto makers thats why the transmission works great. and the engine has so many problems. i just prefer import cars over american cars any day.but thanks for the reply.
Hey, that GM your wife had to have is an import too! Made in Canada with a Japanese transmission and a Chinese engine. GM does not have much of an American operation compared to what the average Joe presumes. And the kellyh07 is correct in that the repair is a temporary fix. The warranty is at the whim of GM; they won't cover my vehicle even though it's the exact same ... Read More
The repair was recent, so the new plugs and wires have corrected the lurching. Based on what I have read here it would seem that the replacements most people have used have also failed early. GM apparently will indiscriminately choose to correct some as warranty repairs, others they will not. Given repeat failure of plugs the issue is not likely the plugs, but a design flaw, or material flaw with the ... Read More
My plugs r not cracked put it does have a bad misfiring.did the plugs and wires fix it permently
ohh ok. thats why i only buy import cars lasts way longer and never have these types of problems but the wife had to have it oh well thanks for the reply.
It may or may not fix your problem. Temporarily it may fix it, but then you may experience issues again in a few months/year. Hence the 10 year/100000 mile warranty extension for the plugs and wires (if your car falls under the recall). I would take it to a GM dealership and find out.
so does the spark plug and wire fix the problem because my torrent is doing the same thing
Read through the posts on lurching on easy acceleration, the likely culprit is the spark plugs and wires. Don't assume GM will honor the service recall either; contact them first see if your VIN "fits their list" and then decide where you want it serviced. When you go to the other posts you'll see the run around I got.
Here are the orginal list of "qualifiers" per Pontiac sent to me in the copied e-mail (minus my name): Hello XXXX, Good Morning! I have a '07 Torrent with the same problems. Bought in November 2007, little over 14,000 miles. Started having trouble the following year and then the year after that. At that point I called GM/Pontiac asking why was this problem occuring in a new vehicle; was told "that was something that just happens". I kept calling and told them that if this was going to continue I would return the car ... Read More
Anyone attempting to have a repair done under the voluntary service recall be prepared for a battle from GM. I had the same spark plug issue with my 2007 Torrent and found this site after repairs were made; mostly looking for reasons why the plugs and wires went bad so quickly and dramatically. I sent an e-mail to Pontiac's "Customer Service Team" inquiring about the service notification. I was sent a ... Read More

Cass - The document ID # is 2572066 (this is what your dealership might need to pull the information). It says on the top '#10250 - Special Coverage Adjustment - Spark Plug Wire Warranty Extension - Jan 31, 2011'. It indicates is for 2007-2009 Pontiac Torrents equipped with 3.4L engine (LNJ).
Kelly, I am wondering if this may be the answer to what is going on with my 2007 Pontiac torrent. However, I did not receive anything in the mail regarding the spark plugs. I will look into contacting GM now and see what I can do. Thank you for your very helpful post. :)
First off I am a huge Chevy person, but I purchased a 2007 Pontiac torrent in late December 2010, the first few days of having it I noticed water/ice in the tire well, that was resealed. Now when the car is started it says "service tire monitor system", I had my tire patched recently & this appeared soon after the tire was fixed. Later that same day the radio has completely ... There was a voluntary customer notification sent out in January 2011 (about) that the spark plugs and wires were having issues and they extended the warranty on those parts for 10 years/120000 miles. Unfortunately they cant tell you what is causing the issue and have indicated it could be a continuous problem. We had the spark plugs and wires replaced in Dec 2010 and again two weeks ago (June 2011). They ... Read More

I thought to myself that I might of got bad gas or water, so for the past three fill ... Read More
UPDATE! Our issue turned out to be a failed plug and wire set. It seems odd to me that these would need to be replaced so early...but if you have these symptoms check those plugs and wires. We had a plug that was cracked right down the side of it. The codes on the transmission were apparently as a result of the misfire being transmitted back through the system.
I have a 2007 Pontiac Torrent with 33,000 + miles on it. Zero problems until last week and it started to lurch on acceleration to the freeway. Then, it got worse going up hill on gentle acceleration load. Same thing, again and again. Took it to dealer and the tech. could not get it to replicate the problem the next day. I told him to go out on the freeway between 50 ... Read More
Oddly enough, we just recently noticed this occurring this week... 83,000km on our 2007 Torrent, and we are getting the same lurch...although I also feel like the car might be down on power. I'll be doing plugs, air filter clean, and engine clean tomorrow am and hope that helps. Greg

I leased a Pontiac Torrent last week (Ontario, Canada) and when I went to pick it up they told me that GM had stopped delivery on the Torrent and Equinox with no explanation from GM. My Torrent (2006) came with the base single CD radio but I really wanted the radio with CD changer. All I wanted was the 6-disc changer and a sunroof, while very nice, ... Read More
