Heres one for you to look out for! Ive never used the cig lighter, brand new still had cover on it. I was driving to town and all of a sudden the thing bursted into flames! I kept slapping it out but it kept flaming back up, I drove directly to the Fire station and they ran out and disconnected my battery and put the fire out, no damage done. Crazy huh. Fuel Pump Blown Fuse

have a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire that will blow the fuel when it is raining, snowing, etc. I have had the fuel pump checked and it is good. Dealer said that the fuel filter was clogged and replaced it. They said that it was the problem, but it has quit again(a rainy day). What could be causing this to happen, a frayed wire,a short in the wiring? Read More...

Thanks for the response. On the 1998, that had all the warning lights, I found that the ground was bad. Once I fixed it, the car started up fine. Just the AirBag light stays on now. On the 2000, its one the side of the road now. It drives and runs as smooth as can be, never sputtered or ran rough. But, crusing again at 65mph, the engine just died. It will turnover, start ... When gas prices went up, I bought two Sunfires, a 1998 5 speed, and a 2000 Auto. Last week, I started the 98 and started off to work. All the warning lights came on and the RPM gauge stopped working. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I bought my 1998 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L 4 door for $2,000 CAD in October 2006 with 194,000kms Since then i had to have the alternator rebuilt ($300) and have the gas tank ($100 used) the fuel pump ($150 used) and the filler neck ($80 new) replaced. There are 212,000 on the car now. Am i going to have more problems??? Read More...

I'm going to reply to my own message... It's at the dealership and they want to open up 2 cylinders. I honestly have to say, the car has been running really well, starting right away, idling smoothly and maintaining power since we did our tune-up a couple of weeks ago. Hi, I have a 1998 2.2liter Pontiac Sunfire. We gave it a tune up (new plugs, wires, ignition coils, oil change). It's running better than ever but failed inspection for emissions.
