Great on Gas and Lasts Forever
Vehicle
1995 Pontiac Sunfire 2 Dr SE Coupe
Review
Reading some of other reviews, I have to say, other than normal wear & tear, I've clocked 130,000+ miles with only MINOR problems: fan only worked on high (broken circuit board --> EASILY fixable), leaky fuel injector --> again EASILY fixable for anyone with any mechanical sense. Just give her gas and change her oil and she just keeps on truckin'!
Favorite Features
30+ MPG, you can't beat it.
Suggested Improvements
Sucks about 1 quart of oil between changes. Resale value is none-existant.

I have spent a fortune in repairs for this vehicle. I have sworn off Pontiac for the rest of my life! Everything from the air conditioning, transmission and engine has had major problems. Thank goodness I had an extended warrenty. I am now trading it in for a Toyota and I am confident I will not be taking it in for every repair under the sun. My engine is now losing pressure and will need to be overhauled....need I say more?!?!
Favorite Features
Excellent gas milage and a pretty good stero system.
Suggested Improvements
More horsepower, this car had no strengtt whatsoever. The seats are also uncomfortable

Howdy. I've owned my 95 Pontiac Sunfire SE Coupe for 8 yrs. The car has good handling in the snow and rainey weather. Very little has been replaced on this car. It is built tough!
Favorite Features
I like the sport suspension handling. I like to be able to feel the road as I am making my turns.
Suggested Improvements
More storage compartments. Both rear seats to be able to fold down.

I bought my Sunfire new in May 1995. It's been a good car over the past eight years; I've opnly had minor problems such as small oil and radiator leaks. My air conditioning, defrost, vent, heater, etc. only work on high. My biggest problem is the paint job...no sooner did the paint warranty expire did the clear coat begin to peal and it looks horrible and gets worse every day. Also some rust is resulting...it's not worth fixing. Now that I'm older and getting ready to start a family; I'm realizing that it's no longer the car for me.
Favorite Features
Power sunroof, fun to drive, no major mechanical problems, reliable
Suggested Improvements
Paint and Clear coat and gas mileage

I've had my sunfire for 7 years and it's been a decent car. The major problem has been the transmission. I'm on my 3rd one and only have 86000 miles on it. I am not hard on cars, and have done a great deal of highway driving in the car. Other problems have been pretty standard. I like the gas mileage and it has been a cute, zippy car for a single gal. Now with a husband and baby though, we're ready for a minivan. I wish the car had power windows, locks, but for a basic small car there is tons of room when the rear seat folds down. Got lots of stuff to and from college in it.
Favorite Features
gas mileage, cute sporty look, lots of cargo room when back seat is down
Suggested Improvements
power locks, windows. More comfortable rear seats. More reliable transmission.

Nothing, and I mean nothing has gone right with this car. I cannot express how angry it has made me. I have replaced, drivers seat twice, head gasket twice, head, driving lights, alternator, driverside door, the horn doesn't work, the rear window defogger needed fixing. All this and no accidents to cause any of it.Both front wheel mounts need to be replaced, the main gasket for the oil needs replacing. There is a short in the electrical system that causes the abs warning light to come on if the four ways are turned on. All in all I want to repaint this car yellow and put a stem on the hood so everyone can see THE LEMON IT IS!!!!!
Favorite Features
favorite feature: it will die soon and i can get another vehicle. DIE DIE DIE!!
Suggested Improvements
Jack up the rad cap and screw a new car underneath!

I bought my 95 Sunfire in 97 for my "college car" to run back and forth from home to school. I must say that I have had an unbelievable run. My plan was always to keep the car until graduation, in May 99, and then trade it in for something else. Well, I paid it off and it has run like a champ up 'til today. I plan on driving it until I am forced to buy something else. The AC still blows ice cold, in AZ no less, and it runs flawlessly. Only major repairs have been an alternator and a water pump since '97. May I have the same luck with my next car, which could very well be a Sunfire when the time comes.
Favorite Features
Look is modern, even 8 model years later. Runs well at highway speeds.
Suggested Improvements
Lacks power with AC on.

I bought my 95 Sunfire (used) when it was 2 years old. It has given me a really good run since then but a week ago the engine went out. One thing the mechanic told me is to beware of the smallest coolant leak because if not caught early it can ruin the engine. My car gave me 118,000 miles before it broke down but the mechanic did mention that many of the Sunfire's he had worked on went out at 75,000 miles. A good car, but beware once you get into those higher miles.

Bought my 95 Sunfire used in 99 It has 135K on it and people still ask me if its a 99. This car has been a very good performer. The handling is smooth althought the steering feels a bit loose in neutral position. Its not a sports car but with the right set of tires it really sticks to the road. Front seat comfort is good and gives a nice driving position. Back seats are a bit hard. Look for rust around the fuel door. I had small rust spots appear however it was only surface rust, primer and touch up will give those a permenant cure. The only parts i replaced are the starter, rack&pignon, front susp top plates and tab bushings and the usual breaks, tires
Favorite Features
The best thing I like about this car is if you are 4 adults in the car you still get decent power and the car doesn't drag too much from the rear. I've been in Civics and Acuras with 4 in the car and it really struggles under load. Replacement parts are cheap and easily available.
Suggested Improvements
The paint is somewhat fragile in sharp corners and on some surface and prone to peeling but GM has been pleagued with this problem for awhile my Dad's 99 Malibu had the same problem. Tip get it rustproofed with a good oil treatment if you live in a harsh climat like here in Canada
Good value, average car.

I haven't had much to complain about going into my 6th year with the Sunfire. 150,000 miles and still going strong. Why this car gets knocked in anybody's value dept. is a mystery to me. Most cars with 150,000 miles are ready for the junk heap. I wouldn't dare trade this solid car in right now for the price they'd offer. I'm going to drive it 'til it dies, which may be a while.
Favorite Features
The 4-door has plenty of cargo room, a good sized trunk, and a unique look to it in general.
Suggested Improvements
Rear peripheral vision is not great. The cupholder is in the way of the A/C controls when in use. Replacement of plug wires require ramps.
