EDITORS' RATINGS OVERALL SCORE:

Overall

RATING

Among the most attractive production vehicles on the road today. The available hardtop makes the Solstice look tough. Acceleration is impressive from the GXP trim. But inherent ergonomic and athletic challenges will limit its acceptance by enthusiasts.

DETAILED EDITORS' RATINGS

Dynamics

RATING

Taken as a "sporty" car the Solstice and up-level GXP provides ample fun. As a true sports car, however, the Solstice simply is not as sophisticated, communicative, or as refined as its competitors. Car savvy shoppers will expect more.

Comfort

RATING

Ride comfort, wind noise, and road noise are all remarkably good for a two-seat convertible. This is enhanced by the available hardtop variant. Entry/exit are also good, but the driving position is far from optimal.

Function

RATING

From the way the soft top operates to the interior ergonomics, the Solstice GXP is a functional disasater. Even the hardtop variety of Solstice offers unique ergonomic challenges. Many customer complaints are possible.

Design/Build Quality

RATING

Excellent exterior design with questionable build-quality. Again, this is an admirable effort, but even once-ridiculed Korean cars are as good or better.
