I just did some research on it, if you still believe that facts prove that the solstice handles better than the miata, I would be interested in seeing what facts specifically lead you to this conclusion. First off, solstices that race in SSB are equipped with an option called Z0K Club Sport, which offers several upgrades (including suspension) that are not found on the stock car sold to the average consumer. ... Our hopes were high following the debut of the 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe at the 2008 New York Auto Show last year. We had not forgotten the ergonomic shortcomings of the Solstice. Nor had its functional limitations slipped our minds. It was mechanically the same curvaceous Solstice that had made us swoon in 2006. Only now it had a bitchin' hardtop. 2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Follow-Up Test
Introduction The Pontiac Solstice gained popularity after the 2007 blockbuster hit Transformers, where the Pontiac Solstice was the autobot form of Jazz. The sleek little sports car is as quick as it looks. So if your debating buying a car from this class I would recommend taking a look at the latest American design in the group. This report is intended to compare the Pontiac Solstice with its nearest competitors in ... Read More
Karl, I bought a used 2006 Pontiac Solstice base in April, with 15k miles on the odometer. It had a few technical issues that were covered by the factory warranty. I have since put another 15k miles on the car due to my 90+ mile daily commute and frequent jaunts around town, including to and from lunch with a passenger in tow. The experience has been a relative pleasure. The car's ... Read More
Below are the in stock units: Sky 1300 Solstice 4600 MX-5 6300 S2000 2000 I guess my point was that Mazda has a lot of stock out there while Pontiac and Saturn does not. Not sure if I had a point but was wondering why. What is interesting is that in 2006 sales we get: Solstice.....19710 Sky...........8676 MX-5.........16897 If you look at how MX-5/Miata did in '05 they sold 9800 units. ... Read More

I compared both cars and I love the looks of the Solstice but in my comparison, the Mazda wins in all but one category. I will be Zooming it up pretty soon. :) Both are very nice cars and Pontiac did a very good job on the Solstice. It sure is pretty to look at. I rode bikes for the last six years and this is the most fun I have ... Read More
well have spent 20 years in the military one learns how to pack and pack only what is needed.....so as I stated before....there is plenty of room to pack in the Sol...just be creative....most of us pack huge suitcases and dont wear half of what be pack to begin with......if you had to haul it yourself.....you would learn that lesson quickly..... cheers and happy new year every one :P
Yes the Solstice is totally appropriate for traveling to a nudest gathering :-)
we have packed for a five day trip to KC and back from VA in our solstice....you can fit two average size duffels in the back with the top down....you can hang clothes on a hanger behind each seat..using velcor hanger hook......so there is room...you have to be creative....yes you cant get a hard side suit case in with the top up or down...anyone with a roadster...regardless of the model..will probably ... I was all set to buy a 2007 Solstice. But when I seen that there was no trunk space with the top down that was the end. My wife and I like to go for drives and stay over night and no trunk means that we can not take a suitcase. End of story. Been a GM person all my life but somethngs come first.
Pontiac, on the shoulders of its popular Solstice, saw the biggest decline in shopper ages – from 54 in the first quarter of 2005 down to 41 in the first quarter of 2006 – Edmunds.com recently reported, citing a new report by market research firm CNW. At the same time, Toyota has seen a dramatic 11-percent increase in the average age of its shoppers, even factoring in its Scion youth brand. ... Read More

I contacted Stirlin Pontiac in Longview, Washington about a black Solstice. The email I got back said they are willing to give me MSRP. I told them I'll go over the weekend to test drive it. They said "okay". So I showed up on Friday, Feb 10th, 2006. I introduced myself and they said the car is being pulled out of the showroom and getting a wash. Few minutes later I ... Read More
Personnally for my first car I would want a junker. Cheaper insurance and you can ding it up and beat it to death without a care. The Civic and Solstice are two completely different animals, so you really need to write out what you want to get out of your car. 99.9% of the time only a roadside kit or subs have been in the trunks of my cars, so trunk ... I went to my Pontiac dealer and they are sold out of their 2006 allocation of the Solstice but would take a deposit for the 2007 Solstice. Drove the MX-5 and really enjoyed it. I must be the exception to your rule. In 2001, I bought a Honda S2000 and last month I bought a 911 Cab S. Both purchases were after a lot of research, test drives and analysis. lbthedawg was comparing the 2006 Pontiac Solstice with the new Mazda MX-5, not a new 911 S which can suffer from the RMS (rear main seal) leaks dating back to the first Boxsters and 996s. ... was tagging the 2006 model year on the very first Solstice's. I thought so, just making sure. lhess knows what I mean. :D
I guess Pontiac can tag them with whichever year they choose. I would have called the first 1000 2005's which would have made them a little more exclusive and then tagged the following as 2006's. Just my thinking. And, I agree, there's no dealer on earth gonna tell a credible buyer that they can't sell a solstice cause it's the last one they have and other people want to see it!! ... used 2006 Pontiac Solstice's. There will hardly be a one for sale used as 2005 closes and 2006 rolls along. Somebody correct me on that if the first year of the Solstice is considered a 2005 model, OK? You never know what year a carmaker will pin on a new model any more, know what I mean? :)
Dear Carman: It's Foxyroxy again, still working on leasing something. As I said before you have been very helpful with the numbers on the BMW and 350Z. Just needed to see what numbers I should concern myself with for the best lease ... Read More
2006 Pontiac Solstice vs. 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata
I got done reading a review comparing the Miata and the Solstice and I am very mad. I mean it sounded like the guy owns Miata's and wants to make everyone sure he bought the right car. The road tests were almost identical, the 0-60 times were maybe .2 seconds different and the overall performance is pretty much the same. The only real issue is comparing their looks. Who's taking the credit for styling this? There are better built and better looking choices out there. At this point it'll be easy to find a glowing review, as the car is new and most reviews are not going to put GM's ad dollars at risk. Don't believe me?? about the 2006 Pontiac Solstice. The amount of work to build this car in just a few stations is less because there aren't that many welds. Adhesives and fasteners are used to join parts. GM designers met and used common-GM parts wherever they could. A lot of you have already read this article but for the benefit of those that haven't I'm reiterating it. I am not exactly sure when they started building the Miata. I think it was around 1990 and it took them until 2006 to add a rollbar. Give Pontiac a chance. This is the first year for the Solstice. They are already planning a 240hp turbo Solstice for 2007. They will add things and make improvements as the years progress if the car is successful. They already have over 8000 preorders ... xkss: I predicted the same for the Cryco Xfire when they first came out. One poor fellow (who had just paid 5K over MSRP) bet me that it'd never happen. He still owes me a steak Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. The 2006 Pontiac Solstice doesn't use a seven-year-old chassis like the Chrysler Crossfire. Hmm... I think this thread needs to return more to the 2006 Pontiac Solstice rather than just GM this and that. There are other threads about GM today. The Solstice just isn't like other GM products.
that is something about the 1969 Camaro. I was the person that posted that comment about the 1969 Camaro. I honestly think that the 2006 Pontiac Solstice is the best looking GM rig since the '69 Camaro. if the car is hot, you are sure to pay, for the first rights to own the newest and coolest. Mini was that way, the MR2 was that way, etc. I would argue that cooler heads prevail, and come out ahead.
