2005 Pontiac Montana Minivan SV6 4dr Minivan w/1SB (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I have had to alternators installed, both front stabilizer bars installed, power rear window bracket installed, does not have a lot of power to get onto the freeways. The air conditioning does not work all the time, it cuts in and out ( more out than in ) in traffic, better to open the windows. I have been a GM buyer for a long time but after this one I think I will change.

Favorite Features

6 CD player and the DVD player

Suggested Improvements

Put a bigger engine in it and make all the second row seats the same size, the smaller ones are very hard to sit on especially for an adult.

Review

We've now had this van for a full year. Generally, we're still quite satisfied with the van, its comfort and quality. The leather has held up well, the DVD player is more popular than ever and the AC blows like a January blizzard. However (oops, there's that word...) a few minor things have cropped up in the past year including a powered door that stopped working, brake trouble (not serious )a loose trim piece covering the sliding doors' track and a radio that switches stations w/o warning (only happens on one certain frequency ...huh?) All fixed quickly and cheerfully and under warranty, but should these have happened in the first place?

Favorite Features

Still like the style, DVD player, cargo area has grown more useful for us, wife enjoys "i" center, Able to listen to DVD player on stereo (even if you can't see it), rear A/C 9is nice, Onstar

Suggested Improvements

Oldest child needs easier access to rearmost seats as our two babies occupy the center captain's chairs and they won't fold with the seats strapped in there. Still need thicker carpet, even more storage cubbies, power rear door still needed, front armrests could be higher and an inch longer.

2005 Pontiac Montana Minivan 4dr Ext Minivan (3.4L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Purchased 1 yr old with 25K miles. Put 20K on it during ownership. Tons of room, with a comfortable-for-adults, fold-flat third row. Fits 5 adult passengers with 2nd row bench seating and 6+ full-sized luggage pieces with third row folded. Much storage. Engine was powerful to begin with, but definitely had lost noticeable "punch" after one year. CD stereo radio sound was adequate but not great. Questionable build quality created worrisome driving @ 42K miles with a loud, metallic "clanking" sound when riding over bumps (dealer attempted to fix, but sound resurfaced within 5K); "ghost" power door that closed on command but opened by itself when parked; "chirping" noises when I turned right.

Favorite Features

Optional parking assist a definite favorite. Roomiest mini-van on the planet? Aggressive but handsome styling. Comfortable (optional) seating for 8.

Suggested Improvements

Too many noises and issues for a like- new vehicle. Substantial annual depreciation could have you upside down for a long time if purchased new, but in contrast, could possibly be a good used purchase.

Review

I brought this van in Sep05. The ENGINE has been replaced 2 times. The Low Oil Presure Message and the ABS light are still coming on once a while. The gas gauge is fluctuating. The dealer still does not know how to fix it. DO NOT BUY GM.

Favorite Features

I lost confident on this car.

Suggested Improvements

I do not think GM can do any better due to their situation.
