Car has been good to us over the last 1 1/2 years. The steering is a little rough, and a little squeaky.

Favorite Features

Great gas mileage, Great stereo system, sounds real good and works well.

Suggested Improvements

Do not use the key fob. Many problems with it. Just easier to use the key. I don't like the fact that the car door locks automatically, when I get out of the car and when I get in the car. I have locked myself out quite a few times. Keep a spare key in your purse or pocket at all times.

I have had absolutely no luck with any grand am i have owned two of them and poured money into both of them they are still worthless and are not reliable in any way shape or form I have kept up the maintenance on both of these cars and then have left me stranded dozens of times literally hours and hours from home not a good buy no matter how cheap you get it

All is well, except the foundation. How can you enjoy the vehicle if it leaves you on the road side five to eight times a year. At 95k everything starts to break. Fuel pump, transmission, starter, alternator, transmission again, electrical system, ABS, and so on. What if it is actually an engineering miracle? - Cleverly designed to fall apart at around 100k. Some idiot engineer thought that then the consumer is going to buy another one. Never happens.

Favorite Features

Driving, precise handling, power. Looks. Nicely equipped. Unbelievable highway gas mileage for 3.3L V6.

Suggested Improvements

Improve reliability and do not think of cars as disposables.

I bought the car for $650.00. The people I bought it from lied about a lot of "work" they had done to the car. Brakes, and the cooling system. The brakes went a year after I got it and the radiator and water pump went about two weeks after I got it. Other than that Its been a great car. Always been a Pontiac Kid and will stay a Pontiac Kid. It has 173000 and still going strong!

I bought this car for a great price and have had it for 80000 miles. It has been extraordinary and i have no complaints. I brought it in for a few minor repairs, which paid off in the end. Im now upgrading to a 98 grand am and can only hope for the same results.

I bought my car from a friend. I've always wanted a grand am, and let me tell you I will never buy a pontiac every again. The day after I got the car it was leaking anti-freeze a week later i spent 300 more dollars for plugs, breaks, and other small repairs, now this week I found out I need new fuel injection and there is a small leak in the head gasket. This car was a waste of time and money. I suggest buying a V6.

Trunk room and pop holders..

Recall Quad 4 all together.

I have owened this car for over 8 years, purchased used in excellent condition. The car now has 100,400 miles on it, mostly local, stop & go driving. It is highly reliable. My most expensive repair was under $300 and very, very few repairs were ever required. The car still looks and performs like new. Absolutely no rust and the finish shines.

Extremely reliable. I bought it with 91,000 miles, and now it's up to 151,000, with only minor maintenance required. It needs a new fuel injector, new plugs and wires, but other than that, nothing fancy. I will admit, it's hard on alternators at times, as well as brakes. Also, the paint has blistered terribly, but I think this is either a recall issue, or a poor quality aftermarket job. Overall? Incredible, fun car! I love it!

Favorite Features

Hmmm... it's get up and go [I have the 3.3L v6], the fact it stomps the daylights out of those silly little Civics.. the handling is superb, even though the suspension's not at it's best. Extremely reliable.

Suggested Improvements

Non-OEM alternator [high power], hyperwhite headlights and fogs [the stock ones seem a little dim..], and if you plan on installing a custom stereo, make sure you dynamat the car headlights to tail lights, because it loooves to vibrate...

Review

In april of 2003 I turned 16 I started to look for cars. When I finally found a nice car i got it. It was in great condition with 120,000 miles. It was a 1992 Pontiac Grand am SE with the crappy quad 4, which I didnt now about at the time. I had it registered for 2 weeks, then the headgasket blew. Then I found out it's going to cost $1100 to fix. They definitally should have had a recall on the quad 4. Its a nice car with a bad motor, there very unreliable. After I get it fixed it's going up for sale. So if you ever get a Grand am please do the smart thing and get the V-6 (Like my cousin did).

Favorite Features

Rides like a Dream. Easy to change to a CD player. Pretty good style. Good room, good size trunk and very comfortable. And the cupholders in the glove compartment is pure genius

Suggested Improvements

The quad 4 should have never been made, definitally needs a recall. The tires are too small and thin. The motor needs more than 115hp to move this 3500lb car. Too much plastic, large nose,And have the seat higher so you can see the hood.

Review

It's a great car with an awful engine. The Quad 4 is infamously unreliable. Granted, it's a great engine when it's working, but since it's such a pain to work on, it gets expensive when something goes wrong. They're notorious for blowing head gaskets at around 120,000 miles. Mine is leaking, and it's currently at 130,000. It's about $1,100 if you just need a new head gasket, and about $2,400 if you need an all new head. Also, GM put iron rotors on the car, replace them with steel ones, and they'll be less likely to warp.

Favorite Features

Comfortable front seats, manual 5 speed

Suggested Improvements

Get rid of that engine Upgrade the brake rotors Sway bars (front and back)
