Sarah I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP that according to my GMC dealer requires a new transmission. It was misfiring and was having issues getting into Manual mode. Initially over 2 years ago the misfires were very subtle and only fluctuate 300rpm, it finally got real bad and was 800-1000rpm. At first the Ck Eng light generated a PO327 code for a knock sensor but even after it was ... Read More
I bought my '08 GXP, used, with 42000 miles on it. Shortly thereafter starting hearing rear clucking noises, ended up with new rear struts. Dealer got it under warranty for me. Then this year at 62000 miles, started to experience hesitation and chugging with acceleration. I told the dealer it needed a new tranny, but they told me to bring it back when it did it more consistently. Ended up stranded ... Read More
I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2008 USED WITH 21,000 MILES ON IT. A SUPER SUPER CLEAN CAR WITH THE 5.3 MOTOR. IN NOVEMBER OF 2011 MY 2006 G/P GXP WITH UNDER 30,000 MILES. RIGHT STRUT AND BOTH TIE ROD ENDS WERE SHOT. I HAD BOTH STRUTS REPLACED AND TIE ROD ENDS REPLACED. DEALER SAID NO WAY ON ANY WARRENTY. GOOD THING I HAVE A FRIEND THAT WORKS AT A DEALERSHIP. HE ... I made the original post for this thread about my 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP that dies mysteriously. Posted Jun 08, 2008 (11:11 am) What fixed my stalling issue was having the crank sensor replaced.
ok sounds like some of forget to wipe oil up after changing it cars don't just catch fire less there is some bad wires or fuel leak but that should be noticed be for a fire start so when you change the oil make sure to wipe the oil you spill off the hot parts it comman since ain't it also if you don't change your oil your self you should ... Hey Holly, I fall under the category of not the original owner I am actually still paying on my car. I bought this car in November 2008 it is a 2002 pontiac grand prix gt with a 3800 and I first started having problems with it in May of 2010. I went to start my car after work one night and my keys were locked up in the ignition and I ... Read More

Said it was fixed, drove it home and recieved the same message reduced engine power. When I stop at a stop sign and hit the gas it sounds and feels like it is going to stale, put then it goes. Hi, I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix and have had the same problem occur in 2008 and again just a few days ago. Both times it was the A/C Power module that had to be replaced. When I replaced it in 2008, there was a service bulletin about the problem, but no bulletin this time according to the dealer. There is an obvious problem with this part, as I just ... Read More
I was considering a 2008 GXP, and was wondering what are the service and reliability problems..Just the tires sizes and lack of rotation create a "Money Pit", and you all have proved. The tranny is a warmed over S/C V-6 component, and the struts/brakes are just upgrades to dazzle the customer.. Having owned 53 cars in my long life and probably driven 3 million miles, the problems are mainly suspension, tires, ... Read More
Hi guys! Anyone can suggest GOOD company who's selling and shipping glasses for the cars? Actually, I need windshield and rear glass for Pontiac Grand Prix, 2008.
I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with a 3.8 V6. I just got this car in Sept. 2008 and had the transmission rebuilt in October for worn shift plates. I recently had my service engine light come on and the ABS light along with my traction control no longer coming on. My car has started to hesitate when taking off from a stop and one day it was jerking ... Read More
Good news! Today a recall was issued for all 97-03 cars with the 3800 series II engine. Here is what it says: (CNN) -- The possibility of engine fires has prompted General Motors to recall nearly 1.5 million passenger sedans manufactured between 1997 and 2003, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Monday. The recall covers certain mid- and full-size passenger sedans under GM's (GM, Fortune 500) Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile and ... Read More

First – a sincere “Thank You” to those who have posted useful information here over the past several months, as I considered a G8 GT purchase. I appreciate you taking the time to post and specifically for answering several of my questions. Executive summary: This is as close to a ( reasonably priced ) 4-door Corvette as I see available today. With just over 2 years and just over 32,000 miles ... Read More

I recently purchased a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP and have been looking for accessories. I am looking for chrome side vents and a chrome grille specifically. However, what I am finding is for everything but the GXP model. Does anyone know where I can look to find these accessories?
Greetings, I just wanted to let you know that there is a recall for the Buick and Pontiac with the Supercharger 1997 to 2003. Sorry that is is too late for both of us, but spread the word. It came out March 15 2008. There are a lot of people that took it in the shorts on this one, I just found out that I had to report my case to ... Read More

Well..Just an update here. I recieved my "Huston we have a problem" letter from GM saying thier "still gearing" up on "supplies" needed to replace. I contacted Pontiac last week after hearing the news about 1999 - 2003 GTP's recall. When they called back I was told that "GM needs more time to identify the involved vin numbers." I replied that they ALREADY HAD AT LEAST ONE and that 5yrs ( ... Read More
You can add me to the list. Mine started on fire 3/13/08. I got the recall notice on 3/15/08. I had no idea regarding these fires. My email is msossama@yahoo.com I have registered a complaint with the NHSTA and the Federal Trade Commission. I called Pontiac on 3/14/2008 and they still haven't called me back. They have transferred my case to 3 different allogations reps today alone.
“. . its actually a 10-way seat. You'd think they'd advertise that, huh?” A discussion of G8 marketing ( so far ) I expect will be fruitless. Your point regarding the seat adjustments may be valid. I have yet to see the actual ‘slick’ G8 sales brochure – though I understand that some dealers do have them. I do recognize that there are significant difficulties with launching a car when it ... Hello Damon. GMAC's current base lease rate and residual value for a 36 month lease of any 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with 12,000 miles per year are 3.0% and 55%, respectively. As you can see, GMAC uses lease rates instead of money factors to calculate vehicles' monthly payments. You can convert its published lease rates into approximate money factor equivalents by dividing them by 2400. I believe that GMAC charges a ... Read More
First, by raising the issue ( for me ) of the apparent near 4,000 pound weight of the G8 V8, I mean no disrespect to GM \ Pontiac , nor do I mean to ignore or “gloss over” the fact that they will be bringing to market something with features & specifications that many, many here & elsewhere have been asking for – for quite a long time: For example: RWD ... I agree...... The G8 will have the GT which is 362' hp. A GXP with 400+ hp via 6.0 or 6.2 VVT V8 I've also read that a special limited edition model to have 502 hp. is in the works. That would be great because then Cadillac, would almost be forced to put the 600 hp. version of the supercharged LS-7 in the CTS-V Rocky
No offense but when I think Grand Prix, I think of really bad FWD 80s and 90s cars. Not a 4-door Grand Touring German/Japanese luxo car killer. The G5, G6, G8 monikers bring a little bit of class to the nameplate. Grand Prix also conjures mullets and cheap beer! -mike
I read today that they are ditching the Grand Prix name for G8......so you will have G5, G6 and G8. Thats right GM follow Ford and take a classic name like Grand Prix and the hundreds of thousands of them sold over the years and throw it away. Maybe I am old fashioned but the American car companies are trying to be like Audi (A4, A6, ect) instead of just being ... Read More
Just wait until the RWD 500+ hp Grand Prix debutes. Will they be able to say that's boring ? :P Rocky
I don't find the Grand Prix boring at all. There's no comparison between the Grand Prix or Impala!!! The Impala looks like "nothing." The design is terrible and it looks like any ordinary sedan. At least the GXP has a lot of style and looks sporty, even though it's a sedan!!! What does the Impala have??? It looks exactly like an ordinary family car. At least the Grand Prix looks sporty ... I like the Pontiac front end better though. The Aussie, needs more technology if it wants to play in the U.S. market in the 3 series segment. Rocky
GM needs *everything* Holden makes. Problem is that once you build it and ship it over from Australia with the big engine and all the fun gadgets on it, you have to sticker it well above $30k and try to sell it to people who expect to get big decontented cars for $20k OTD. GM would do very well to move 40k a year of an unmolested Commodore SS here.
Well bumpy wouldn't you agree it's a car that GM, desperately needs ? I think GM could sell 75-100,000 units if this Holden Grand Prix was to come out. I think it would need to feature the tactile feel of the others. Gadgetology I think could make the difference. GM, could start with a mega-watt surround sound system, and work all the way up to featuring swivel headlamps. Rocky
The current Grand Prix is a boring FWD crusier that's taken even more abuse from the cost-cutters than the Impala or Lacrosse. No one can be bothered to give a poop about it, and the Holden rumors are nothing more than wishful thinking at this point.
I guess Edmunds is lacking Grand Prix fans. I figured this topic would be at least luke warm. Rocky
Will a RWD Sedan outsell the FWDer ? Rocky
I clicked on the "Future Vehicles" icon and curious to why it didn't go under that forum title ? Please move this one to the future vehicles forum, since obviously I don't know how to start up a topic in those forums yet ? Rocky
How many of you guys/gals would like to see this new 6.0 LS-2 V-8 RWD (Commodore SS-V) Grand Prix sedan hit out shores ?????
I read somewhere a few months back that this generation GP was going through the 2008 model year and then it (at the time of the article) was going to be replaced by something developed from one of the new global platforms. But with GM in constant restructure now... who knows. My bet is at least one more division will be deep sixed. I'd think Buick or Pontiac were the most ... Read More
What is your price range? The new Impala ranges from 21k (base LS) to 32k (loaded SS) and seems like a big improvement over the outgoing model. The Buick Lucerne is coming out, though I'll bet that you'll find the Northstar-powered version too expensive, and the 3800-powered version too much for an OHV engine. The Grand Prix replacement is coming around model year 2008... look for upcoming coverage of the Sydney ... Read More
