I have a 2007 GXP with 64,000 miles. I've already replaced 3 wheel bearings/hubs and now the 4th is bad. my back tires even after an alignment don't seem to be right since the tires wear more on the inside. I never use my tapshift.... not even to slow down. I went with ceramic brakes for less wear on the expensive rotors. As of 2 months ago the transmission has been ... Read More
I have a 2006 pontiac grand prix and it will shift hard or when I sitting on a hill and getting ready to take off it slips. I am getting ready to go on vacation and I think the transmission will probably go out. I think Pontiac needs to be responsible and replace all these bad transmissions...
When I purchased my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP it had 81,000 miles on it. This didn't worry me because I had 235,000 miles on my '04 GT and have never had a a bit of trouble with it. Besides it had a 100,000 mile warranty. At 97,000 miles the transmission went out. At the time I thought I was lucky because the warranty covered it. HOWEVER, now less than 10,000 ... Read More
If I remember correctly I had the same problem at about 60k. I had them replace the torque converter which helped for a while. The problem started coming back at about 110k intermittently and now at 145k it is to the point where the car is stumbling when cruising or going uphill. You can see the rpms jump up and down when this happens. I really like the car and will ... Read More
Well here is the verdict on this issue. The aftermarket Ignition control (DURALAST) I put in the vehicle in place of the original Iginition control module because I thought it was the problem. When the Crank Position sensor shorted out when the car gets warm causes the car to cutoff. When the car is cold it will start up. When they replaced the Crank Position Senor and put the replacement aftermarket ... Read More
I have the same issue with my 2007 Grand Prix. This is the list that I have changed Ignition Contol Module, Ignition Coils, Plug Wires, Spark Plugs. Took the car to the GM dealer and they told it was the Crank Position Sensor and replaced that along ... Read More
I have 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with 141,000 miles on it. When I take off it hesitates to switch in to gear and makes a thud. I have taken it to the dealership several times and no issue was found. Correction to my first post....My GXP is a 2007.....and conveniently for GM the warranty ran out in March...15 weeks ago. I bought it new and only have 47,000 miles on it....and NEVER used the paddles...not once....so they can't blame it on that. I just dropped it off to my GM dealer and I'm awaiting their verdict. This GXP is my 17th Pontiac...all new....and like "bbaisden" says above, I'm hoping GM realizes ... Read More
I have a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with 49,000 miles. At first the car would just die while driving, like someone unplugged or cut off the engine, no codes, no warnings, nothing. I am in agreement that the GXP's transmission has a design flaw. I had to replace my transmission (about $3K) 1,000 miles away from home in July of 2010. Although it had about 118,000 miles on on the odometer, I bought the car off the showroom floor, followed the service schedule, and used authorized GM service centers exclusively. I replaced it with a Jasper transmision and now at 143,000 miles, 20 ... Read More
Is there a class action suit against Pontiac for transmission failures?
Recently purchased a 2007 Grand Prix with similiar problems. Replaced blower motor because of excessive noise. Obviously water leaked onto it and probably started rusting up on the inside causing the bearing to squeek. Also have same problem with heater just cutting off. Similar Problems with 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Heater / AC. I recently purchased my first Pontiac. It's a 2007 Grand Prix GT with 17,500 miles on it. Within a few days of my purchase, we had snow. I've got a 2007 GP GT, 7000 miles. When it was "brand new, fresh from dealer" and less than 2000 miles, we had one tank of gas--Albuquerque to Farmington--that we got 32+, hand calculated--not DIC readout. Average speed was 65 mph. We continue to get excellent mileage when out on open roads.
I bought an ENGINE FIRE 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 2dr from a salvage auction on 4/30/2007. It only has 77,284 ACTUAL miles. Appears to be a all-stock, well cared for, garage kept "cream puff" car. Messages 44 and 45 above have links to the investigation. You can look at the documents they have posted there. Very few of these types of investigations actually turn into recalls, so I ... Read More

Does anyone know if there will be a 2007 Grand Prix? I am in southern california and pontiac advertises and pushes the G6 and solstice but there is no mention of grand prixs in any adds. Have they given up on it like the Bonnie?
Somebody over at the Car Connection must be monitoring this forum - they just put out an update to the rumor mill. They are hearing Pontiac will go exclusively RWD: http://www.thecarconnection.com/Auto_News/Daily_Edition/Daily_Edition_May_30_200- - 6.S173.A10476.html
The Solstice may be, but not the G6, except when yawning about it. In spite of the Solstice being such an attractive car, it won't make buy any other Pontiac. What puts me off about them are those coarse OHV engines. Ummm, I think there are two cars called the Solstice and the G6 that seem to be in the news a bit.... I don't think Pontiac is going anywhere. Buick gets the upmarket mellow, GMC gets the fancy trucks, Pontiac gets the more youthful exciting cars -- all in one showroom. The Grand Prix isn't going anywhere for ... Read More
Actually, Buick and Pontiac are in the same ball-park, but Buick is more profitable.
