    Your initial problem was NOT a passlock problem, but now that the SECURITY light is on, You may have the passlock problem plus another one as well.     i have a 2001 pontiac grand am 2.4 engine it will only start with starter fluid it runs great untiol yoy turn it off i have cheched the fuiel pump opressure and changed the fuwel filter and the fuel pressure regulator still no luck

    try turning the key to the on position for 10 minutes with out starting then turn key back to off position then try starting.these cars have security issues.

    I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT, I'm having the same problems with the SECURITY / PASSLOCK system as is everyone else here is mentioning. I called GM "they don't care" It's going to cost a small fortune to get the problems fixed. My local dealer, Wyatt Johnson in Clarksville, Tennessee wouldn't even hook up the computer to see what error codes were showing without a fee.

    I have a 2001 Grand Am SE, it had 135,000 when I bought it last year and is a good lil car ( I love it ). I bought it through a dealership but took it for an independent inspection and it came back good.I have no engine issues with it, put a cold air intake on it

    lots of cars still have timing chains. timing chains prove to be better than the belts. the belts go bad unknowingly, but chains will let you know before they officially go bad and mess up your engine, they start making noises before they go bad. they arent even that expensive. dont let the word chain fool you into thinking its more primitive, b/c they seems to work well and last longer ...     I have a 2001 pontiac grand am that doesn't have any turn signals or emergency flashers, and the remote door opener doesn't work. Plus I have body control module light on and occasionally trac off light that comes on. I have not been able to find the flashers under the dash and am not sure what to do.

    Have your EGR valve checked for the service engine light and have your tires and or rotators checked for the wobble. I am having the same problems that you are having with my car. Margaret

    Congrats on the timing at 100,000. Mine blew one cold rainy night at about 40,000!!!!!!!! There is a service bulletin on that that involves changing out a gasket. Check into that.

    i have a 2001 pontiac grand am i had the same problem check your reservior hose . where it rubs aginst the battery mine had a hole there (right there where it rubs aginst the battery) i hope this solves your problem.
