I bought this car late in its life. It had 80,000 miles on it and it was spotless. I bought it because I knew they sold cheap, and I like tinkering with cars, so it was a fast car for a low price. This car is comfortable and fun to drive. It has the last version of the original small block Chevrolet engine (LT1) so you get that legendary sweet exhaust tone as you drive. It runs and drives like a true blooded American muscle car. I love and savor every second I drive it. My car stock did 14.1@99 mph 1/4 mile at the race track. The LT1 (1993-1997) cars are complex engines and it takes time, patience and experience to understand them. Buy only if you like working on cars.
Fast and comfortable, great on long trips. Stable at high speeds. Parts are generally inexpensive. It looks nice all shiny and clean and scares foreign exotics with its fearsome acceleration and roar. There's something magic about a TA. It is a legend.
Horrible interior quality. Rattles and squeaks, mainly from the front passenger seats, which can be changed for the 1998-2002 ones, but everything inside is pretty bad. Brakes are terrible. Engine work is not for novices on this car. Don't buy if you can't fix yourself or pay the mechanic.
I have had this car for a year now and have no complaints. It handles very well and takes off how and when you want it to. Its got 186,000 miles on it and you would never know it without looking at the numbers.I've won several competitions and am now a true firebird fan.
6 speed manual. ability to wipe most others off the street.
More aftermarket parts most people seem to skip this year. And the possibility of dual exhaust.
A black 67,000 actual mile TA with an aftermarket 4" cowl hood plus the factory spoiler and chrome wheels prompted us to name this the Batbird after the Batmobile. We have added subtle Batman logos tastefully onto the interior and exterior of the car. Installed a performance chip, cold air intake, 1.6 rocker arms, performance exhaust, MSD ignition and wow, this TA became a real screamer. Spanks the Cobra's on the weekend at present. Planning to add a supercharger and a 100 hp shot of nitrous soon. Here Viper, here viper! Overall this car has great reliability with no major problems. A few rattles here and there but the exhaust drowns that out. This is the new classic w/no more being made now.
The no excuses in your face look of the TA. The screaming performance. Turning heads all the time. Whipping the so called import performance cars at will. This car makes me feel 20 years old again. The muscle car lives!
More headroom. Make rear window easier to see out of. Make custom paint such as flames and stripes available from the factory when these cars are being built again. Bring back the metal flake paint that you only see on Ranger boats now. Make 800 hp optional engines available from the factory.
What can I say; purchased it right off the showroom floor and may never part with it. Engine is still bone stock internally. Bigger injectors, headers and a little supercharger make this fast vehicle faster. They have been on for 9 years and its still running strong. The car is showing its age with the usual creaks and rattles but I can live with them; just turn up the radio louder. The only item that has failed is the radio and the door speakers; easy fixes. You cant go wrong with the looks either. It still turns heads even for a 13 yr old car. The rear end has been replaced but it didnt fail but probably would have running slicks so a 12 bolt was easily installed. very fun car.
the 6 speed transmission hooked to the LT1 and the killer looks.
Bring back the F-bodies. Could always use another.
