Dry up the current liquid around the manifold and heads by soaking up with paper towels. See how soon it reappears. What was the date on one of the circles for the upper intake? If it was original to the car, it may have had a partial fix applied. I believe during 1999 is when GM changed the size of the metal EGR pipe. DexCool develops a gooop if regular antifreeze (old ... We also have a 92 Bonneville. Several years ago the same thing happened. It was summer, and just started happening. Nobody could find the problem. One day, in the winter it would start, but continue misfiring from the time it started, then it wouldn't start at all. We found out it was the coil. Evandro-Which issue? My point is- We are talking about 3 different coolant leaks causes. (And the Montana never used a 3.8L engine. The last 3.8 GM Van was the 1995 TransSpot which did not use the Series II that went into the Bonneville.) oldram51--If yours was a gasket leak then why did you repalce $500 worth of Lower Intake Manifold and Upper Intake Manifold (Plenum)? ... What is typical for oil consumption for the 3800 V6? I have a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville that I bought with 24,000 miles and it uses about 0.5-0.75 quarts of oil every oil change (3,000 miles). This has been fairly consistent as I have now changed the oil about 3 times. I use the reccomended 10W-30 and I like to use 1 quart of Rislone. There is no leakage and no visible smoke. Read More...

I know that many of you are "supercharged" on your bonnevilles but what about a basic sedan for grandma and grandpa? My 70 something folks have always driven Ford Crown Vic's but need to down size and economize. We aren't impressed with the Taurus so have been looking at Pontiacs. It seems like we had the same problem and the same corrective measures by our dealers by replacing the brakes and rotors. I also agree, it was a PAIN for me too because i'm not the one using the car monday-fri- the wife is!!! and par for the course- when i got to use the car on sat-sun- NO NOISE, NO GRINDING, ETC What the @@@$$$%% are you talking about??? was usually the ...
