I have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SE with about 230K miles. The problem started about 1-1/2 yr ago. Initially it would happen on rare occasions, I'd turn the key and nothing just a clicking sound, I'd turn the key again and it would start right up. But for about the past year now it just kept progressively getting worse and worse with each passing day. It takes more than a couple ... Read More
You didn't say if you have automatic temperature control or the standard HVAC. If you have standard (C67) no digital readout, there are two relays that switch. If one is burned, the blower doesn't work on the lower speeds and if the other is burned the system doesn't have the highest blower speed. Since you don't say that it works on one speed or other, check the ground from the blower ... Read More
You need to see a circuit diagram and find the connectors to check all along the circuit for ground and power when the lights are turned on. One way is buy your own factory service manual which was originally printed by Helm Inc. helminc.com. That'll be about $120 including shipping if I recall. You can buy a used version on eBay. You need to know if it was two volumes or ... Read More
Kelly Blue Book says that a Bonneville SSE with 518,000 miles in good condition is worth $1,155 to a private seller. Expect an offer of slightly less than that from a dealer trade-in. KBB says $625 for a trade-in value. I don't think you'll attract any special attention from Pontiac unless it has over one million miles and still the original engine and trans.
Sorry, it looks like Pontiac is not interested in purchasing your Bonneville. Are you interested in a discount on a new car?

We also have a 92 Bonneville. Several years ago the same thing happened. It was summer, and just started happening. Nobody could find the problem. One day, in the winter it would start, but continue misfiring from the time it started, then it wouldn't start at all. We found out it was the coil. We replaced it, & it ran better than when we first got it. We bought it used ... Read More
when i want to start the car, it will not start for approx. 2.5 minutes. It has like a waiting period before it will start. It does not always do it, but 90% of the time. When you drive and want to accelerate, it starts misfiring and shaking. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
While I haven't heard much about a Bonneville redesign in '05 or '06, the Grand Prix and G6 will complement each other much like the Malibu and Monte Carlo/Impala do over at Chevrolet. The Grand Am that G6 is replacing has a design which dates back to 1992 and is considered by many to be too small when compared to its competition (Stratus, Altima, Mazda 6, base model Camrys, Accords and ... Hello, my name's Cameron and I have a 1992 SE. With upgraded stereo, hence the user name. You can look at pictures of my car at http://members.cardomain.com/zazzz Anyway, I have one question: does anyone know if there is a K&N that fits my car? I heard that the filters only fit 1994+. Can you fit one of those in a 1992 air box?
This morning I noticed pinging sound when accelerating, coming from under the hood in AT area. When I switched to first gear the sound become grinding. I already drove for about 5 miles of local traffic with a lot of lights, when I realized that, and when I parked the vehicle i found that ATfluid is leaking in big amounts. I found it was leaking from corroded metal line connecting AT ... Read More
My mechanic has a scanner and you're right he has had a hard time intrepreting the data. He has checked everything that has come up on the scanner. He had another mechanic from another shop check it out yesterday and they could not figure it out yet. The check engine light has never come on. I don't know what the diagnostic codes have been. I don't know if has checked the ... Read More
1992 was the first year for the supercharger, and the SSEi designation. All supercharged 1992 Bonnevilles were SSEi's, all other 1992 Bonnevilles were either SSE, or SE. There was no SLE moniker, that's just what Pontiac calls the SSE's now.
hi, i am thinking of buying a used 1992 pontiac bonneville ssei.. the milage is 149,000.. and the price would be around 3500$.. i've been really thinking a lot,.. is this a good deal? the owner said it runs and drives great but my concern is how reliable it is, it maintainance cost.. and every thing..i heard a bonneville has a lot of abs brake, and transmission problem, being a 17 ... My grandmother drives a 1992 Bonneville SSE with the NA 3.8 litre V-6. I kept track of fuel use on a recent trip from East Texas to West Palm Beach, Fla, and the car averaged about 28.5 MPG. I was actually disappointed in this performance, because on cross-country jaunts in my V-8, RWD Thunderbird, I get about 27.5. I was really hoping the Pontiac, with FWD and fewer cylinders, would do ... Read More
