I took my 4 cyl 2004 Alero to the GM dealer because the turn signals work less and less frequently and to top it off, the battery light comes on and the engine revs up to 4000rpm going a max of 40 mph...

Alero is still for sale so it's not completely dead yet. Local dealer has 4 or 5 2004s on the lot still....

Probably (just a guess) replacing the turn signal switch will take care of this--that seems to work for *most* people. I presume you have a 2004 Alero as they didn't make them in 2007....
