I bought my '06 Xterra new in 2007. At 7954 miles, the clutch gave out. Took it to the dealer, he repaired/replaced it and said they decided to use the warranty ( no charge ) because they figured it was NOT a "driver" issue, ie., a bad part/design. OK, last week, 27,000 miles ( and 2 months out of the Nissan warranty, it did it again. The clutch does not engage. ... Read More

The biggest bang for the buck is to reduce wind drag. A couple of months ago I decided to test out some of the tangible techniques suggested in a gearhead TV show on improving your gas mileage. I targeted 3 low cost / low risk area: Air Filter, Synthetic Motor Oil, and Roof Rack. I drive a 2007 Nissan Xterra SE (2WD with option of 4WD, V6, 4.0L, 265HP). When the ... Read More

There has not been an unusual number of warranty claims attempted or otherwise and also, and more importantly, there has not been an unusual number of parts sales for repairs that customers are paying for." 2010 will involve 2 new vehicles in my household. neither one will be a Nissan.

Even if '09 Xterras are not manufactured anymore (which probably is the case), it doesn't mean you have to pay 2K extra. It actually means you have to pay less as dealers have to clear their inventory for '10 models (which won't have the incentives of the '09 models). Just go to another dealer and as them to "look around" - they can trade between themselves from around the state (or ... Read More

Because the new clutch systems now require replacement of all parts in order for the clutch system to run properly ( that is according to the service manager at GO Nissan, NorthGlenn, CO).
