2005 Nissan Xterra SUV Off-Road Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 6M)

Review

This 2006 Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year boasts a powerful 4.0-liter, 265-horsepower DOHC V-6 engine that puts out 284 pound-feet of torque and is fun to get dirty. The Xterra will suffer most at the gas pump. The car gets an EPA-tested 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, but those who haul heavy stuff or play a lot off-road will see those numbers go even lower. Front-passenger seats have decent support and are large enough to accommodate most adults, but the backseat in particular is small and cramped, and it offers little legroom. The most disappointing thing about the 2006 Nissan Xterra by far is its gas mileage.

Best Features

Large rearview mirrors and good window placement and design minimize blind spots. The four-wheel antilock braking system uses electronic brake-force distribution to help all wheels brake equally. 0 to 60 in 7 seconds.

Worst Features

Leather seat covers.

Review

I have the 05 off-road 4wd with a manual tranny for about a mth now. This SUV performs really well in moderate snow condition. Works great on steep climbs. The Rockford Fosgate sound package is not quite as impressive as they advertise it to be. I like the 6 spd transmission, but don't really see the use for the 6th gear. You probably will never need to use it unless you live in Montana or something. The overall look of this vehicle is quite impressive and I am very happy with it thus far. You cannot buy a better SUV for the price that these things are selling for.

Worst Features

More fuel efficiency would be nice

Review

I must say that after searching for over a year and test driving dozens of new cars, i made the right choice with the X. Great ability, great looks, and yes it could stand a little spicing up on the inside, great power, great EVERYTHING. i drove land rover, jeep, and many more but none came close. it drives slightly like a truck (if you're used to cars) but it is supposed to, it IS a truck, a truck that can outperform, both on and off road, most others. maybe the Wrangler has it off road. so if you want a good ride, a lot of power, speed, fun and great styling this is the SUV for you. if you want a road SUV with a car like ride look else where, this one is for on and serious off Roading.

Best Features

wipeout back, folding seats, power, 4 wheel drive, locking rear dif. ground clearance, 6 speed, POWER, speed, ability go go where I point it where ever that may be.

Worst Features

Had a few issues, keys had to be replaced, AC smells a little at first, NO GRILL GAURD AVAILABLE WHEN I BAUGHT IT, and Nissan took 2 months to get me the one I wanted, and even than I had to go without the side airbags. heated side mirrors/windsheild/seats

Review

The off-road X-terra I bought is a great combination suv to drive to were you want to go off road, and then to go off-road. It compares favorably with the Jeep Wrangler off-road, but gives you a lot more comfort on the highway. It also has a lot more room inside, and great storage system inside and out. Much wider and roomier than the previous X-Terra's. My only major complaint is with the idiot engineerwho took the sunroof out and replaced it with that plastic bucket and cover on the roof. Now it's supposed to be for wet things, like I want to put my dead fish up there, so it can drip on my roof and get baked in. NICE SMELLING TRUCK DUDE, maybe my waders after a duck hunt so they freeze in.

Best Features

nice dash, suspention, and drive train, great engine, nice tie down system.

Worst Features

Wind deflector with off-road light holes. 2. A 5 speed transmition would have been enough with the new 4.0L engine. 3. Better seating in general. 4. Real off-road tires. 5. Bring back the sunroof and through the basket away.
