engine overheat question

I have 2002 nissan xterra. 125k miles. 6 cylinder. last nite while i was driving my car suddenly the (service engine soon) light on and @ the same time the overheat meter on to max hot. I have a 2002 Nisssan Xterra 4 cyl with about 167,ooo miles on it..my check engine light came on so i took it to auto zone to get it read..the codes i was given were P0740 and P0328,,,when i took it to a mechanic he told me that my knock sensor need to be replaced and my tork converter valve in the transmission need to be replaced...when i looked up the p0740 code that says ... My Nissan Xterra stalls while driving. You can only restart it by jump starting it. So I had the battery tested and it was bad. Now with the new battery it starts and still stalls after driving approximately 10 minutes. It won't start again unless you let it sit for awhile. Then it the problem repeats itself. Read More...

I think Nissan wanted to separate the Xterra a little more from the Pathfinder. Sounds like you fell on the Pathfinder side of the divide, except for no 6-speed at all on the Pathfinder. Personally, I think the Xterra rocks in almost every way except looks. I like the steering wheel controls, the carpetless back, and I'm only 5'9", so I have no headroom problems. ... Read More...
