2001 Nissan Xterra SUV SE 2WD 4dr SUV (3.3L 6cyl 5M)
This is the perfect first car for anyone. The interior is not the nicest, but with a teen, that's usually not a problem. The engine could be improved but it's enough for most people. You can't go wrong with a Nissan.
The exterior's sport look. This is a nice looking car. The 6 disc CD player is cool as well.
The air conditioning went out once, and Nissan replaced my windows free of charge before they stopped working.

This was my first time owning a SUV. I fell in love until I had to fill the gas tank. The gas mileage on this SUV is very bad for a 4cyl vehicle. There is no get up and go. How could you have a visor without vanity mirrors? Take this SUV and start over from scratch. And next time have a female design it.
Height of vehicle. I am no longer afraid of driving in front of 18 wheelers or other SUVs with their headlights in my eyes.

Well I have had my 2001 Nissan Xterra for about a year and I have to say that this SUV is great to drive. I was very surprised by the fact that the braking response is excellent for an SUV, there is not that much of a delay. In the snow it has been fearless. My only complaint, like every one else, is the gas mileage is horrendous. I get no more then 250 miles on a full tank...and that is a combination of both city and highway driving, but mostly highway miles. But hey any of us who buy an SUV know what we are getting ourselves in to.
6 cd changer, leather seats, 4WD
gas mileage, it would be a great feature if you could lower the trunk's window like most other SUVs

I think that the seats are fine. I do
long highway drives (17 hours
straight) often and rarely have to
stop except for gas. However, I have
to stop too often for gas.... Room
inside for two bikes, camping
equipment and people. Disappointed at
depreciation rate. Seems much higher
than comparable vehicles. Even
without 4WD it handles great in snow
on fairly steep rodes.
Tight turning radius and overall
handling; internal cargo hooks
