I have driven standard transmission vehicles all my life including some very high performance vehicles. Never a clutch problem. My last vehicle was a 2001 Frontier with 100K miles, no problems. Now it is pinging and knocking and I do have a knock sensor error code. It comes and goes and sometimes so bad I want to shut it off. If you have a fuel gauge that doesn't go up to full after you fill your tank coupled with a "Service Engine Soon" MIL on your console, the problem is probably an error code PO463. This is the fuel level sending unit. It's a common to very common issue with the Xterra at around 40k miles. Mine went bad on a cross country trip at 39980 miles. No, it's not covered ... Read More

I just replaced my factory CD player/radio last week. One of the replies to your question by xtierra says there are no screws that hold the dash in, but that's not the case on my Xterra. I have a 2001 SE. The dash itself doesn't need to be removed to replace the radio, just the small plastic housing around the center column that holds your radio, ashtray, and cigarette lighter. I have an 2001 with 149,000 miles on it. The only major problem I had was about a year and a half ago the truck just stopped running. It turns out there was a recall that I didn't know about. The recall was for a fuel pump problem (can't remember the specifics). It was fixed under warranty and runs perfectly since this repair.
